I only said I had wished I didn't need to spank AJ especially on that day because of how excited and looking forward he had been to his party all week. A gleam in his eyes and counting the days. "Gramma. Only 4 days left!" "Gramma! It's tomorrow!" However, as I have said already, you won't get any disagreement from me on the necessity of his spanking. He was warned, more than once, and chose to ignore all of them. So he needed a good, hard bare bottom spanking over my knee. As did Julian. And as always, the spankings did the boys a world of good.

By the time the children are 8 yrs old, I've fully made the switch to the hairbrush with them. However, I will start to use the brush with the children when they are a ways into 7, for their more serious misbehavior. Or there have been instances where my spoon was not readily available and I used the brush, instead. 7 yrs old is certainly not too young for a hairbrush spanking, but it's not something I do all the time.

I do agree with your assessment to a point between the brush and the spoon being very similar. But it can also really depend on what kind of brush or spoon you have. Some have really lightweight spoons and decently heavy brushes, so there would be a bigger difference. Both my hairbrush and wooden spanking spoon are not small or light in sort of the sense. The head on my spoon is relatively large and thick. However, my hairbrush is 'still' even a bit bigger with a wider and heavier head.

The important thing is both of them give a very sound spanking, causing an immense amount of stinging and burning as evidenced by the children's loud bawling, hysterical screams and animated reactions on my lap. And where I do adjust the spanking depending on their level of misbehavior, a standard (minimum) spanking will still always be administered long and hard. But all part of a good and proper spanking in my book.
