That was a nice story, Kaylee. I think all boys are naughty about bedtime from time to time, as they are bound to test their boundaries. With Jack, I made sure he found out that bedtime was still bedtime from me spanking his bare bottom with the back of my ‘special’ hairbrush. Testing the boundaries didn’t seem such a clever idea after that. Jack once said when he was older, he remembered it hurt, but forgot just how much until it was too late.

Like you, I thought a standard spanking would do for bedtime naughtiness, but a spanking must never be a joke. You certainly want to hear that ‘toddler bawling’ before you even think of stopping. Any defiance or anger or feeling that they have been clever must be spanked clean out of them.

I had Jack fall asleep after a bedtime spanking when he was younger. When he was older, though he was a tough boy, he just wanted to cry and cuddle for ever afterwards. Just when I thought the crying was over, another wave of it would come over him. Some of that was anger with himself at his own foolishness for getting spanked, but there was a lot of repentance for what he had done in there too, and that was sweet to hear.

One bedtime spanking that certainly was more than standard was the one he got the following evening after disappearing up the lane with his dog at bedtime without telling him where he was going. You can just imagine the colour of the bare bottom I followed upstairs to bed after that stunt.
