And yes you are absolutely right that spankings work! While it doesn't fully prevent all future misbehavior, it undoubtedly diminishes the amount of misbehavior considerably. Like I said earlier, before I started spanking, each of my kids were misbehaving 10+ times per week. Now that number has gone down to about 1-3 times per week (which explains the 1-3 spankings I give them per week).

You are also right that spankings are the best way to quickly deal with a problem and move on from it with no hard feelings afterwards.
