I always had Jack with his nose and toes just off the floor. He went over my lap without much fuss, but he didn't naturally get as far forward as I wanted him. So I would position him myself - head down, bottom up and feet off the floor.

This position made the lower bottom beautifully available to my "special" hairbrush, and having his feet off the floor made him feel powerless. Jack tended to grit his teeth and try hard not to cry when he was spanked, so anything I could do to undermine that tough guy act was useful. It was even a kindness because it meant genuine tears came more quickly and the spanking could be shorter (unless he was being spanked for something very naughty, which was rare).

Once the brush started to really sting then he would kick his legs, so his feet were nowhere near the floor even when he was 12.
