Nice consideration. I partially agree with you.
Sometimes grounding can work, depends on child, how is grounding done, what restriction... Some kids and teens never go out of bedroom, lock them in same bedroom isn't a punishment, but for my daughters is very punitive staying in bedroom in a sunny Sunday is very punitive.
Then grounding hit kid and family because need for surveillance on punished boy/girl.
I also prefer spanking, fast, effective, a real punishment.
