Between my own children, their friends, my nieces and nephews, children I have babysat (and babysit) and now my grandchildren, I have spanked many 'different' bottoms over the years. So I have seen all of the reactions you described, and more, when I have spanked.

Wiggling, rocking, bucking, twisting, pushing into my lap, throwing their head back and/or to the sides, crossing and uncrossing ankles, frog swimming, bicycle pedaling, kicking legs out or the traditional kicking up and down, gripping pillows/bedsheets/cushions or just flailing their arm(s), and of course the (attempted) reach back to try and block my swats.

None of the children have done all of the above, of course. All have had their own responses. But 'all' of the children have been frantic and desperate on my lap while I have spanked. And like Mary said, I feel that is a very normal and expected reaction in administering a good, sound and thorough spanking. I would be concerned if I was spanking them like I should be, if they didn't respond that way.

As it has been said by many here, a spanking should hurt a lot, it should be unbearable. You can count me as another Mom in that camp. And their animated reactions on our lap, along with their loud wails and screams, along with buckets worth of tears and snot, lets us know the spanking is working exactly as intended. And I know from reading your posts, you feel the same way.

Stephanie, from what you said later in the thread, you spanked Benjamin for his attitude and disrespect towards you. A well deserved spanking for your son and a reason I have had to spank for many times. Good for you.
