It is understandable that you and other moms would follow Mary's guidance. Her reasoning for why and how she spanks is sound, sane, and reasonable.

While I will find my own way of doing things, I am already thinking that the next time I spank one of the kids, or all of them, I will land some swats further down the backs of their thighs as well. I will probably only spank down as far as my hand is wide, like you and a lot of other moms, but I can imagine landing the wooden spoon or hairbrush further down too, maybe one or two smacks mid-thigh, or maybe even just above the inner knee.
