I've always tried to avoid going too low on the backs of the thighs, usually just a few inches or so below the 'sit spots'. Not saying there's anything wrong with it, it's just not my spanking-style. Growing up my brothers and I would often go and stay at our grandparents' house during the summer. They had a few hickory bushes in their backyard, and when discipline was needed they'd have us go and "cut a switch". These switches would be used all across our bare behinds and the backs of our legs. It was some of the most painful punishment I'd received growing up, which is why I decided I wouldn't be using a switch on my own son.
