Thanks for both your lovely and wise words. Yes, we are definitely pretty alike in many aspects on the disciplining of our children.
Glad to read we agree on never daring to use their level of physical maturing against them and to carefully approach their behavioral maturity.
However, just a couple of things about all this. First: sure your Nicholas at 11 is and will still be a great and adorable boy. but just be ready because you probably will still find more than one of a slightly different kind of tantrums in the years to come, even when he’s around 14.
And secondly, yes, of course we expect to see less of their childish naughty behavior as they get older. And it’s completely fine and needed to let that very clear to our child when we have the chance to talk with him and also even when needing to scold. However, not judging intended, the only thing I don’t do is to tell him that he is being spanked like a younger child, because age doesn’t have nothing to be with how he is punished. If he is naughty at 8 he gets his 8-yo bottom spanked, if he is naughty at 14 he gets his 14-yo bottom spanked.
Nice to also find we too sometimes do this of the baring and spanking them in stages. And that we also vary on certain aspects of their spankings depending on the current situation.
