I am late to this, but Happy Mother's Day to Irene! That is so wonderful what you and the children did for her with all the sweets, cards and taking care of all the chores, as well. But I know from experience that Irene probably appreciated just being able to take the day off the most.

Although not being able to take off completely, in having to correct your youngest over her knee. Although I understand where she is coming from in that duty isn't quite as undesireable as others. :)

Like the rest of the Moms here, I have had to spank on Mother's Day, as well. More than once. The most recent time was actually with Andy, back when he was 10 yrs old. Andy was staying with us at the time and the family decided to surprise me on Mother's Day with a trip to the old campground, and our same campsite, we visited often with our children while they were growing up.

One of the rules we always had with the children is they couldn't leave the campsite (when they were younger) without an adult or older child (mid-teens) accompanying them. Like many 10 yr old boys, Andy just completely disregarded the rule soon after we arrived. Fortunately, it didn't take too long to find him, but it didn't stop me from pulling down his pants and giving him a good, sound spanking over my knee while sitting at our picnic table. In a way, it was very accurate in our return to the old campsite, as it was a scene that repeated often enough with my own children (or their friends) when we went camping.
