Hi all!
My daughter is now three and a half years old and regularly attending kindergarten. There they only have the rules, no outdoor shoes and no dirty feet inside, they allow the children to decide for themselves what they wear and if they go barefoot, actually inside more than half of them are barefoot in summer, now in autumn it's a bit less.
As temperatures are cooling down I recently bought autumn clothes for her, long pants, a sweater and a jacket, though she's still going barefoot always and everywhere. A preference that I noticed early on and wholeheartedly supported because I can see how good it is for her health and mood! She says her feet are happy and she never wants to wear anything on them, though we have Skinners socks for winter just in case it gets too cold, we don't want to risk frost damage! She also has wool legwarmers keeping her shins and ankles warm. She knows when her feet go numb it's not good, but now during a walk outside they actually get warm. And she loves playing in the fallen leaves, rustling her little toes in them!
She actually inspired both of us parents to spend much of the summer barefoot as well, in the garden and for walks in the park and forest. Indoors we're all barefoot including the cat (of course). Certainly I'm wearing shoes to town now, I've switched to a few pairs of "barefoot shoes" minding my own foot health! And little Rita is the family's barefooter, her soles are like soft leather, sensitive and warm to the touch, so cute.
