Agreed wholeheartedly — I’m a father of two daughters, ages 9 and 13, and both have lived a completely barefoot lifestyle since they could walk. They’ve grown up experiencing the world with their soles, not their soles covered, and it’s been a joy to see them connect with the ground in every season.

They roam through grass still warm from the sun, stroll over cool morning tiles, tiptoe through mossy patches in the woods, and splash straight into puddles without hesitation. City streets with their smooth, sun-baked surfaces are a particular favorite — they love the contrast between them and the rougher textures of the countryside. By the end of the day, their feet are often marked with the story of where they’ve been: dusty, muddy, or city-black, and they wear it like a badge of adventure.

We once had shoes for them — the last pair they owned was outgrown over a year ago — but I’ve never felt the need to replace them. Their feet have adapted beautifully: strong, resilient, and confident over every surface, be it frosty grass in winter, a hot summer pavement, or even fresh snow. And when it is truly too cold, they let us know — their own bodies are the best guide.

For them, being barefoot isn’t just about comfort — it’s about freedom, awareness, and a connection to the world that shoes would only dull. It’s a lifestyle that’s shaped not just their feet, but their sense of independence and joy.
