Hello Robert and all,
10°C looks like ideal temperatures for children to go barefoot everywhere. Though my three and a half year old Rita is going out for shorter times even when it's around freezing. Having especially fun when we had a little of snow dusting the lawn. And when it warms up just a little more, a few degrees above freezing, she spends a lot of time outside.
It's always amazing to watch how her little bare feet easily make it over all obstacles, in the garden and in town. Without having to put much effort into focusing she safely avoids anything that could hurt her feet without slowing down.
And as she comes home, after scrubbing the city's dark traces off her soles (I still gladly help her with that), she's in a wonderfully positive mood, often telling of her adventures as her feet are pleasantly warm to the touch, until it's bedtime and she always has a fantastic sleep after those days of thousands of barefoot steps, ready for a new day in the morning.
That shows me how much children need activity involving all their body and senses, doing all the outdoor activities barefoot intensifies the experiences and is obviously good for their well-being all over.
As the daylight is short and the weather often unpleasant, we use every opportunity to go out and enjoy the world!
