Hi, Robert and everyone!
It looks like you had wonderful holidays together. Though the volcanic rock of the Canarian islands can be tricky underfoot, I'm sure they enjoyed and definitely experienced more than most others!
Our children are now 11 to 15 years old, and mostly doing regional weekend hikes and city visits. Our eldest son tried some rock climbing as well. They're barefoot everywhere and their feet are strong as ever, with pronounced arches and nicely splayed toes. When it's nice, such as in parks or hiking on grass and soft forest ground, I'll take off my trekking sandals and go barefoot with them, though they're all already better than me when it comes to walking over pointy gravel as if it was fine sand.
