We were wondering if the kids have flipflops they slip on once they are off stage, but no, all 22 of them remained barefoot. Maybe that also had to do with the rather formal understanding of "tracht" where bare feet are actually the preferred summer version for children, the alternative being specific black shoes with white stockings as worn by the adults in the choir. Any other style of shoes simply wouldn't go with that, but bare feet are traditionally accepted for both boys and girls.
Their feet, by the way, are all well shaped and suntanned with no sign of "sandal tan lines", so it looks like they're all used to going barefoot. We talked to some of the singers later in the evening and they said with a smile that summer time is barefoot time. Perfect, just as it is in our family!
