Hello to everyone enjoying the beginning winter!
In previous years our four kids went barefoot through the summer but wore some warm shoes in winter.
Now we just got them some minimalist sock-shoes, foot-gloves, whatever you call them ... flexible and washable; worn outdoors when they also wear gloves. We talked about this, also how the temperature perception and regulation of children can be different (so parents wearing shoes shouldn't discourage them from going barefoot when they like). All the kids go out barefoot in every temperature for short periods, even deep frost. When they stay out longer or ride their bikes they might put something on. But they all love the new snow so much, it's been an intensive ten minutes this morning! And back home all toes are fine, warm, lively and rosy pink.

Who knows, if christmas should be unusually mild the children will certainly be barefoot on our trips, even if there's still snow on the ground. Their cute footprints are such an adorable sight!
