Now I wonder what terrible things he does so you have to be "strict on him" and he needs "discipline".

I'm 17 years old so not much older, I manage well enough not to make the parents angry (school is allright and I help at home) and I actually have free choice over what I do or don't wear. It's not as if there's any kind of family tradition regarding shorts, barefeet/shoes etc. I just found it easy and cool at some point to go barefoot and so I did, regardless of what they say, of course trying not to provoke anyone with dirty feet at home or similar things.

I wear shorts when I get active outside, running when it's fairly cold, hiking when it's slightly warmer, but I love my cozy long pants when I have to spend a longer time in cold weather. I also go barefoot when it feels good which is ... most of the year, almost everywhere. But I don't make a strict rule out of it. I'm not counting the days but last year I guess I've spent more than six months totally barefoot without interruption!

So I hope you're not too strict on him and let him decide for himself ... he's not that far from being an adult who has to take all his own decisions anyway.

Cheers and greetings to all, happy new year!
Luc
