Hi, looks like you didn't have perfect weather for holidays ... still rain and mud is more bearable when you're barefoot, especially for kids, and mud can be rinsed off the toes easily.

Here the weather is more pleasant with sunny periods and mild temperatures. We are all enjoying it a lot, doing hikes and riding our bikes to make the best of the weather.

A reflection from my youngest son who sometimes has philosophical moments: "I guess there are a lot who have never seen me wearing shoes" ... Though he did wear minimal shoes on the coldest days there wasn't a long break between barefoot periods this time and when I compare his feet now to how he was in autumn they don't seem to be any less tough now! That's an advantage of getting yourself used to the cold, your feet remain as robust as they are.
As a side note, no there was no pressure from either of us parents, the children decided this among themselves, including going out into the snow every day for at least a few minutes! All that I did was checking their feet were ok and maybe a word of gentle encouragement in moments of uncertainty ... a smile and a nod as they looked at their toes before leaving the house.

>All in all a good week for bare feet.
