They learn that seasons or tough ground aren't a hard limitation but they can easily adapt (to some degree anyway).

By raising three children with a clear preference to go barefoot (they mostly encourage each other) I learned about the importance of having strong, tough feet especially during childhood. That there's absolutely no reason to worry about a child getting cold feet, on the contrary activities in the cold boost their circulation a lot.

I certainly don't need to encourage them but I sometimes talk to other parents and try to convince them to let their children go barefoot too if they prefer so. It always brings a smile in my face when I see my children have an influence on their friends.
