Subject: A Quinquagenary

quinquagenary
noun
1. A fiftieth anniversary; the celebration of such an anniversary.
adjective
1. Of or relating to a fiftieth anniversary.

FIFTY YEARS! HOW? WHEN? WHERE have they gone? And how is it that the travels to G's, along the Clove, Woodcock Mountain roads and along the old Route 208 be so clear? The old dirt road that seemed a pan-global journey that, because of the anticipation, the elation, lasted an eternity! How is it that I can still swerve to avoid the pot-holes, the rougher spots? I can still smell the change in the night air as the road passed the brook. And with the car windows rolled-down, the sound of the music from the Main House suddenly comes in clearly.

That was 50 years ago, and yet, today, it's as clear as though it's all happening even as my fingers type this.

The web-site has been modified today, in commemoration of the night of 20 January 1974; another "event" that still comes clearly... when I was told of the horror.

I'd venture a wager that the vast majority of us, from then, are no longer "here". 50 years? 50 years ago we didn't even THINK in terms of "50 years", especially not 50 years from then! But today, after all the trials and tribulations that "Time" doles and metes out, I'm quite certain of one thing:
Those of us from then have gone to where "then" and "now" are one and the same as "tomorrow". But, I'm one of those who remain, remembering and doing what I can to keep OUR "then" as alive as I can.

I'd be absolutely delighted to know who's still around, who was there, at G's. I've received some e-mails over the years since the site was launched. But as "Life" is, the e-mails stopped and I wonder. Well, no matter. This site was a dream that became a reality, and not only does it serve to keep "our" memory/memories tangible, I know it's provided some delight to others.

G's, The Lodge, might not be there any longer (as the "Souvenir" pages show, thanks to technology and satellite photos) but there are souls still dancing... in the air, there are some others still dancing... as well as our old frames will allow. G's is still "here"... 50 years after "they" tried to wipe it from earth's and human history.

Drop a line if you can. The site is still alive... so are we... in spite of the obstacles. And hasn't the world changed DRASTICALLY? (And we've managed to keep going through it all! "Think (About it)".
