Subject: Mystic HD install help needed

I bought a new, used HD on Ebay.. It is a Quantum Fireball SE 3.5 series DSPXXX It is 2 or 3 GB drive...

I removed the original 80MB HD from my Mystic and installed the new drive. I did not mess with the options pins on the new drive becasue I could not understand the chart printed on the drive.

When I booted the Mystic, I got a screen that said:

"This startup disk will not work on this computer. A Power PC based computer is required to startup from this disk"

And a small smiling Mac face. No chimes of death or other death sounds or messages.

I assumed that the above message means that it have a OS on the HD that the 575 logic board did not like.

So I shut off the Mystic and put in floppy disk #1 from some older OS's (like 7.0, 7.5, etc). The Mystic will boot, spit out the start up disk, and give me the same message. I shove he disk back in, but the mystic will not read it. When the Mystic was working with the original 80MB drive, I could shove in a disk and it would read it (once the OS was loaded; I don't recall if I ever started the CC with a floppy). I found several "start up" disks (like one I made from Tech Tools) but my Mystic will spit them out.

To make matters worse, I have a non Apple brand external CD ROM drive. I use a software tool called FWB CD ROM Tool Kit that loads a driver for many non Apple brand CD ROM drives. Becasue I can't get the HD to boot, I can not load the software, so i can not try to boot the Mystic from a CDROM.

So I am stuck.... ;-(

Anyone give me any tips on how to spin up this new HD?

Thanks in advance.
