Chris hit the nail on the head. Even if you placed the entire powerbook in the CC case, I know from experience that the LCDs in suitable powerbooks are either too large in total width, or are too large in displayable area

Powerbook 540c - displayable area too large for display opening.

Powerbook 520c - nasty passive matrix screen, displayable area too large

Duo 270c - overall width of LCD too wide for display area to be centered in CC display opening. (now what am I going to do with this useless Duo laying around?)

Duo 280c - see Duo 270c

Powerbook 180c - see Duo 270c

Trust me, as tempting and cheap as a powerbook CC conversion seems, it's really a nasty proposition.

HOWEVER, I have seen Powerbook 190 innards placed in a SE case. The SE's monitor opening has a design that is cosmetically compatible with widening. I distinctly remember some company selling a 190-SE conversion kit that would not only convert the SE, but would reduce its depth to about 2 inches. Anybody remember what this kit was called, and who sold it?
