With a SCSI HD fitted, there should be no problem with an external CD-ROM drive.

Use version 5.3.1 of the Apple CD ROM extension for maximum flexibility with non-Apple drives.

I've not tried using an External CD-ROM drive with an internal IDE HD, but wonder why it should be a problem as long as there is SCSI termination on the external drive?

Stuart.
