Thanks for the replies...Up until recently, I was living in LA county. Then I graduated over the summer and right now I am staying at my brother (North San Diego) for the time being...Late last year/early this year I heard from my brother about the energy crisis (partially caused by the de-regulation of the power industry) that caused his power bill to go up many times over (causing a lot of small businesses to go out of business as well as bringing hardship to people with fixed income). I think there may be a cap now though.

Anyway, I never had to pay for utilities in my life so I don't really have an idea what it should cost. But then again, as I stated in the first post that it is all relative anyway. I just want to make sure that I don't end up jacking up the electric bill.

I do prefer using my color classic since it already have a built-in monitor (which you need once in a while to do maintenance and configuration). In addition, I already have a small room and I don't want to add any more stuff. My new questions are:

Is there an easy way to shut on/off or drastically lower the consumption of the built-monitor?

Is dimming it using software conserve much (if any) power?

Since CC draws about 100-140 watts, does it always consume around that level even when there is little activity and peripherals?

Thanks for any info...

~Pete
