I just wonder if your video problem is caused by the board trying to output a video mode that the CC chassis can't handle? Try removing the PRAM battery and depressing the little 'CUDA' reset switch on the logic board - if there is one on that version.

Re a 5400 board, that WILL need a 3.3v supply, and I think it's fair to say that while some people have had them working OK, more people have had problems with 5400 boards than any other.

IMHO, given the recent price falls so that x500 boards are now sub $100 on eBay, they're the ones to go for. And they don't need a 3.3v line, do they? ;-)
