I would suggest a 6500 board. They came in speeds from 225 to 300, and do not need an extra power supply, or a 3.3v regulator (extra power may be neccesary if you stick a monster video card in. I have not done this.) I do have a working 6500 classic with no extra power or 3.3v regulator, though. You will have to cut out a lot of the "drive shelf" to fit the PCI riser card in, and a laptop hard drive helps, as most cards you could put in the 6500 would interfere with a full size hard drive. Look at how John Stocker did his. My machine is a blatant rip-off of his design.
