It's an old farm house from the 1920s, it had some work done over the years but wasn't up to modern standards when we bought it. The farmland was sold separately, and we basically got the house for the price of land it's on, because it needed so much work done to make it nice again. We did the minimum first to get to where we could move in and then spend another 3 years to modernize it step by step. The remodeling the kids bathroom was one of the last major projects.

I guess the annoying friends don't get invited again. :) We were a bit worried that they might loose some friends over this, but thankfully that hasn't happened. My older daughters best friend is still a bit mad that I introduced her mom to diaper discipline though.

My husbands ex-wife introduced us to it. She read about it on the internet and wanted to start using it with my stepson. We were skeptical at first, but my husband agreed to let her try it, when he stays with her. It seemed to work very well with him, so we decided to use it in our house and with our kids too.

You are right, at this point making them wear diapers at night is not so much a punishment, but a ritual that helps the kids to calm down in the evening. My stepson also wears diapers when he stays with his mother.
