Subject: Hey there fellow boy mamas!

I’m Jelena, a homeschooling mom to two amazing boys—Leon (9) and Lukas (7)—who are full of energy, questions, and yes… frequent smells I can’t always identify. 😅 I’m so thankful to be part of a space where other moms understand what it’s like to raise boys with strong wills, big emotions, and even bigger appetites.

In our home, we really emphasize first-time obedience. Not because we want little robots, but because I believe obedience is training for something greater—learning to respond quickly to God’s voice later in life. One verse we keep front and center is Ephesians 6:1 – “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” It’s simple, but it sets the tone for so much of our training and correction.

We follow a Bible-based discipline approach, which means we try to stay consistent, speak truth in love, and address the heart—not just the behavior. Sometimes that means stopping everything to have a conversation about attitude. Other times, it means calmly correcting with consequences, even when I’m tired or tempted to let it slide. And because we all have our tools—I’ll just say it: I keep a hairbrush handy in the kitchen drawer. Sometimes for taming wild cowlicks… and sometimes for “gentle reminders” that obedience matters. Boy moms know what I mean!

Life with boys is never boring. Between the wrestling, the random noises, the endless snacks, and the “oops I forgot to wipe” moments, there’s so much joy too. I love seeing the little men Leon and Lukas are becoming, and I’m constantly praying for the wisdom to guide them with both firmness and grace.

If you’re in the trenches too—tired but determined, laughing through the chaos, and clinging to Jesus while raising strong, respectful, God-honoring sons—I’m right there with you. Let’s encourage one another in this high and holy calling.

In Christ (and surrounded by Legos),
Jelena
