It all sounds like the usual pushback you get during the first Introductions, it will get easier for you to judge what he needs as you get into the routine. You should start using the hairbrush now for spanking, for both boys.
Start bathing them together now to, you don't need to actively wash them yet but definitely start getting them used to being supervised and sharing the tub.
