Marks on the child mentioned below, along with any child. -- Anonymous, 09:47:33 06/13/01 Wed
I work with abused children and I will say that many marks and bruises do not surface until hours later.
I am sure that when the police were called, they saw no signs of abuse at the time.
If they (police) were called back out to investigate the incident again, they would have seen abuse .
It appears that the pageant that this family was at, was almost at the end of competition, so I would venture to say that it would be hard for anyone to have seen the marks afterwards.
I can assure you that the Mother told her child not to dare make mention of it to anyone, I hear this all of the time from abuse kids.
Their parents threaten them not to tell a soul.
It appears as if pageants are getting way out of hand, first we have children sleeping in cars and now we have a child that was abused at a pageant, due to the fact that she "messed-up" in her modeling.
Makes you wonder how many more abused children there actually are that are competing in pageants, per their parents.
My thoughts on all of this are:
Let beauty pageants be just what they are called: Beauty
If a child has to compete in beauty and beauty only, then it takes pressure off of the child.
Pro-Am modeling only adds pressure to a child and it appears that it is causing many cases of child abuse.
What does Pro-Am modeling have to do with beauty anyway?
It to me is just a form of seductive display by a young child, that is wrong!
Take away the Pro-Am and you get rid of pressure on kids, get rid of the COI with coaches and you get back some honesty in pageants.
Most pageants are controlled by who-ever can bring the most kids to a system, get rid of all of the COI and you (parents) have back what used to be a fun hobby for Mother/Daughter.
Yes, get rid of the high priced H/M people also!
If Mother's would just put alittle faith in themselves they could do it without any help.
Lose the photogentic also, it has nothing to do with beauty.
It is just another way vendors and directors can make more money and 9 times out of ten the pictures do not even look like the real child.
Beauty should be as follows:
Age Winners
A few Mini's
A Supreme
A Grand
All scores would be added up and the ones with the highest scores would be placed accordingly.
Go ahead and bash, but I see kid's that are abused almost everyday that does not live up to their parents expectitions.
I do believe that all of this on these boards need to be copied and sent to all TV shows and every Governer in the United States.
Someone needs to stop this outlandish act towards innocent children.
I will be the first to copy all of these boards and send them to where they will get the most exposure.
When you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to be worried about.
I have nothing to hide, so I am copying them all.
