Re: FEB. 24, 1979 -- Running Man, 18:24:12 02/24/03 Mon
Ernie Cobb was a local guy from Stamford and he was the star of that B.C. team. The gym was packed on that night. The particular play that I remember was 6'10" Mark Young taking a long pass on a breakaway and finishing the sequence with a reverse slam dunk which brought the house down.

Was this the game that Students made a banner that said "Ernie Cobb cannot read this sign". It was a classic ..... back in the time when students not only came to games, but gave some thought and preparation about their opponent.

Re: FEB. 24, 1979-BC pregame warm up -- WS Stag, 22:03:30 02/24/03 Mon
Prior to the game,I walked from the Student Center through the parking lot toward the gym. I passed a group of very tall guys in the parking lot huddled in a circle wearing BC sweats. A cloud of smoke made its way up to the sky... I was shocked and will never forget it. Once the game started, BC proceeded to get smoked by Joey D, Mark Young and gang.

Re: FEB. 24, 1979 -- fastbreak, 22:30:45 02/24/03 Mon
I, too, remember that banner. It was great! I recall sitting way up high in the student section at the far end of the gym. The joint was rockin! BC was really rattled when they had to shoot fouls into the Red Sea. Unfortunately, that's an intimacy that the Arena can never replicate, even with a full house. Those were the days!
