In reply to: Hnk373431 's message, "Student support" on Saturday, March 01, 02:14:55pm

The school mostly clears out on he weekends now.

The school also has a much different make up than I can ever remember. Very good for the overall make up of the school maybe not so great for the sports teams and support.

Remember, all of this has been done by design. NU has made it a point to try and get past the "fun, party school" vibe. The student population now has far more foreign students and far more diversity. These diverse groups generally are not the ones ripping beers before a game, going nuts at the game, and going to the bars immediately after the games.

NU hockey thought they cracked the code for attendance when they started selling beer at the games. It didn't work. As someone put here awhile ago---GC is an old barn. When its packed its an awesome throw back. Loud, intimating, intimate. When it is not, it is just plain sad. The same can be said for what they have done to Dwyer. There is nothing more depressing than some crazy laser light show as the teams come on the ice with 200 people in the stands.

Student support has been terrible for at least 10 to 15 years. Well before diversity or other reasons.
