I couldn't get a grip on my new found itch
So I ended up all alone
I remember where I was when I got my first buzz
See I thought I was living the life

Just up and leaving her behind without saying goodbye had been maybe the single most difficult thing he had ever done in his life - but some part of him had truly believed that he didn't have the strength to go through that conversation. Even though he hadn't called her for the entire time he was gone - almost too embarrassed, he had talked to Ethan a couple of times to get updates on how she was doing. He wanted to be a different person before he saw or spoke to her again - and now, after agonizing through weeks of detox and rehab, he actually felt like he was someone else. He had been out for almost three days, had spent the first while with the guys back in LA, talking things out and even doing a bit of playing, and then jumped on the plane and was now standing in front of her door. He worried a little that she would be mad, but had accepted the fact and was prepared to deal with it - after hours upon hours of counseling, he was now officially convinced that he had made the right decision for himself, and if she truly understood him than she would believe him when he said it. He had been clean and healthy long enough to be looking a little bit better - more filled out, a better color to his features - because when he had left he had looked like nothing more than a shadow of himself, even though he hadn't really realized it for quite a while. An acoustic guitar in a soft case over one shoulder, and a bag at his feet, he knocked at her door and then shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans - faded and comfortable, but fitted, clean and designer - while he waited, not sure that he should just let himself in. Used to the warmth of SoCal, and with temperatures cooling outside here, he wore a grey hoodie zipped up over his black tee, and a black ballcap, his favorite Chuck Taylor's on his feet - still himself, but a healthier, cleaner version...
