Subject: ? 6000 PRO XL Question

I Just got the 6000 yesterday and read the book.[Parts several times]
After you hold the loop in the air and press the GEB switch up, then lower to the ground and pull it back to auto track. How fast do you lift the coil and do you lift straight up or out in front of you? Do you listen for a threshold change on the way up, or a difference between the up position and the down position? It seems like anywhere I set the sig. ballance, the threshold get quieter on the way up, then levels out when I stop in the up position.
Any more tips on getting the most out of it will be welcome.
Thanks
