Guys I was just reading some comments people were posting under one of Kenisha's pic on the USB board and I was struck kind of speechless by one of them.

The poster is a regular that goes by the name of 'honestly', and honestly (pun intended) this person just weirds me out. Every one is giving positive reviews about the pic, and I know that not every one is going to like Kenisha but what he said was a little disturbing - "I never liked her, ever since MW, she just gives me a very bad vibe, and for TnT to make it four years in a row I do not think that she is strong enough".

Okay it is not the fact that he does not think she can make it but the phrase "she gives me a bad vibe". Is Kenisha a deranged serial killer at night, does she kidnap babies from their mother's arms??? I know that some pageant fans are a little looney but this person is off of their rocker, big time!!

...when you send a black delegate that looks 100% like a black girl and no other race. Some people think black girls are beautiful if the have lighter skin, big boobs and big hair like the white pageant patty counterparts the vast majority of the "fans" love. Apart from this some people really do hate T&T's recent successes so even if we sent up the best competitor the competition has ever seen, they would still criticize our girl. I am not worried but I do get a bit concerned when people make posts like "If T&T wins or even makes top 5 I am not watching MU anymore" as a poster did on Missosology's forum. This just shows hate for our rep. and nothing more. Let them run their mouth if they want because as I always say, "Who God already blessed no man can curse!"

I thought the dethroned queen would have went further in the competition. This fair skin, dark skin issue should be discussion of the past but I see it still haunts our communities. My mother is from the Islands and I was told to have children by (you all know the drill) of course I married who I loved not because of his skin tone or hair! Do you really think the African countries worry about such matters?

Listen Mr Who ever you are, Cheryl;s dethronement had nothing to do with colour as a matter of fact this year a girl even darker than her represented us at Miss Universe. So please stop the colour prejudice talk. It shows what kind of mind you have not the mind of our national director. Stop that small minded talk, this is Trinidad and TObago we pride ourselves in sendin different looking women every year.

2006 has ended..and TNT is ranked 13th on globalbeuaties pageant ranking...this is great as we are one of the smallest countries to be in the top 20. however 2007 poses a very important year as we have points to defend (36) from miss universe 1997 with the stunning Margot Bourgeois placing 2nd runner up...

2007 the miss universe pageant is going back to puerto rico...we know what dey are looking for and i believe we have what they want..its just a matter of presenting it to them..we have some amazing girls that if presented right can make it 5 times in a row..i believe 2007 should be one of our strongest years, as we know there are girls ready and waiting for the opportunity to showcase the diverse culture of trinidad and tobago...
Faye...Danielle....Maggie...Kenisha....???
we need 2 strong competitors for universe and world if we are not sending anyone to earth and international. i know financing is expensive but i really wish we could make another showing at miss earth..our first appearance there and Leah did us proud by placing in the top 15...
so here are just some of the people i believe should be rocking our competions for 2007.....

Puerto Rico is hosting the 2007 show?? Is there a confirmation of this somewhere on the net. If it's true then it would mean that PR is hosting it for the 3rd time since 2001. Three times in six years...WOW!! It may mean back to back Miss Universes from Puerto Rico too. Their current queen is a stunner and a survivor of cancer. Hard to beat in my opinion. Check her out on the Puerto Rican site.

This year's Miss Puerto Rico is just as white as Kenisha is black. You expressed concern about some people not liking Kenisha because she looks too much like a pure black woman. There is in America "liberals" who hate a girl as too much like a pure white woman. They were raised to feel that way. They think the government should control things because the people are too dumb to know what is best for themselves.Sorry to get side tracked, but it had to be said.Looking at her on stage she looks like an adult.Close up photos makes her look a lot younger.I wish I knew her exact age.

That is a bold faced thing to say. Perhaps you have a problem comprehending plain english. What we should all love about Kenisha is that she is not up there trying to anglocize herself like many of the other caribbean constituents. In my opinion she is the embodiment of what the rest of these delegates should aspire to; someone who embraces what god gave her and makes the most of it. After all it's the Miss Universe pageant, not the "let's all try to be white girls show", LOL. Furthermore, my remarks about Miss Puerto Rico were not racially motivated. I would never make such statements, you have me confused with someone else. Puerto Rico has a TRACK RECORD of ladies that do well in the competition, regardless of their colour. In addition to that, Puerto Rico has 2 things; a delegate who may be favoured because of her triumph over cancer (which in itself makes her an inspiration) and the possible rights to host the 2007 show. If somewhere in there you read that I thought she would win because she's white, you need to go back to primary school and brush up on your comprehension skills, seriously. Also, did we forget that the preliminary judges are most often from the host country. As we all know, pageants are not always won on beauty, there are so many variables to take in to account. Lastly, anyone who comes on this board bashing Kenisha for being too dark or too ethnic needs to take a closer look at themselves. At the end of the day, we're all ethnic here, so don't be so quick to throw stones, LOL. Just try to be proud of what she had to offer, which by the way WAS A LOT. Just because she didn't win, didn't mean she didn't have an impact. She was after all the undisputed FACE OF THE PAGEANT.

I just re-read your last post. Your inability to adhere to proper sentence structure presents a paradox within the text; is that intentional or just bad grammar? Hmmm, but then you also cite Liberalistic ideals; without understanding the basis on which that particular stance is based. Darling, if you insist on throwing around complex political ideas, try to thoroughly understand what you are talking about and then properly articulate yourself before you offend someone.

You totally misread my post.I was responding to a post by Trini77.It was about people who think that a girl as dark as Kenisha is looked upon by others as a pure black woman with no racial mixture and prefer one that is lighter complexioned.I was refering to Miss Peurto Rico as just the opposite as being too purely white to liberals in America. They do have an extreme prejudice with anyyhing that is too lily white .Most of these people are white.Black organizations also have this HATRED.All they ever talk about is slavery, segragation, discrimination, and white people stealing land from the Indians. They know nothing else. They are stuck-up snobs that think they know how to run peoples lives. They are nothing but dummies, who think their intelect is so superior. They are a threat to freedom in this country. They do run a lot of this country, and their hypocracy is so sickening. They are so dumb they do not realize just how much they are being used by an evil conspiracy to destroy this country. They are usually Democrats, but the last 12 years have shown the Republicans are not fit to run this country, either. With that off my chest, you did not read the posts I made about Kenisha.I talked about how beautiful she really is.She has a pretty face,a pretty smile,a shapely body, and oh those beautiful legs.I even talked about her smooth dark brown skin.I even said Trinidad and Tobago has a real treasure with Kenisha. She was a roomate of Miss USA Tara Conner.Unfortunatly Tara has disgraced her title of Miss USA and will be dethroned and the first runner-up will become Miss USA.I am very saddenned by this, and I hope Tara gets her life straightened out.

Donald Trump after talking to Tara has decided to give Tara a second chance. He said Tara was really a good person and a lot of the accusations against her were not true. She thanked Trump tearfully, and said to the public and the press that she has certain demons(a figure of speech)and was going to be carrying out her duties as Miss USA.She answered reporters questions.I have mixed feelings about this.It was a very emotional time for her,but does this send a bad signal as a role model for other girls. At the same time I felt so glad she did not lose her crown.I have always liked her.She will be going through rehabilitation for alcohol and cocaine use. This bothers me to have a Miss USA on alcohol and drug rehab. At the same time I feel for her and and all of the people in her hometown who must feel a certain shame for their hometown girl. They were so proud of her when she won Miss USA.I hope she does finish her year as she promised. In April she will crown her succeser for Miss USA 2007.

... since she would be relinquishing the MT&TW2006 title. Additionally, I think that the other 4 choices would be a better fit for MU. Even though I believe Tineke has the potential to be a top 20 semifinalist, we need to send young ladies who we believe are at least top 10 or who could crack the top 5.

If rumors are true that PR will be the host for 2007 then Peter & Associates are going to have to bring their "A" game as they did with Kenisha (MU arrival pic excluded) and then at the same time hope the prelim judges don't eliminate some of the top contenders.

So amny rumors, so few candidates who really want it, so little money, so much distractions, so little time....

Ok I've heard all of the rumors... MU07 to be held in Puerto Rico and maybe in Japan, but no matter where it's going be held you must send your strongest candidate!!!

And now let's talk about candidates... she MUST be stunning, have and amazing MU styled catwalk skills, and a tiny body like Natalie MU05!!!

The problem that we're facing right now is to find THE candidate that possesses all of these criteria so that she is assured a top 10 spot!

Best Face - Varlene
Best Catwalk - Kesha
Best Swimsuit - Kesha
Best Arrival - Jenna
Best Evening Gown - Jenna
Best Interview - Varlene

So you see I think that no one girl is srong enough right now to represent T&T at MU07

And now the problem...
Varlene, even though she's beautiful, get lost in a crowd somehow!
Kesha is too short and doesnot have the most stunning face, but atleast she comands your attention.
Jenna needs to regroup herself and figure out what is the best next step for her... remember she's more of the model than a beauty queen! So even though she has had great success on the local scene, she only had moderate success on the international scene with her recent trips to the UK for their fashion week. She has to choose what is the best direction for HER life, and I think entering another pageant is not the best thing right now.
And Tineke simply does not want it! You can find the most amazing girl but if she's not self motivate to win that crown then you're simply wasting your time.

...thanks for your comments. I always look forward to them. I love all our Trini girls but I have to agree with you- we need an all-round stunner, with a very petit body like MU05, who really wants to win MU.

We all have reservations about a shot delegate for MU and this just shows how uneven the playing field is-USA could send a short delegate and the majority of international fans will say she deserves to be in the top 10 and her height does not affect her chaces or even makes her stand out more, but let's send a short MT&T and most will agree that her height is her downfall. Lol! That aside I have to admit that Kesha has grown on me alot. She has one of the best bodies I have seen in the past decade and from her pics from the MT&T2006 pageant she looks like she is there to compete, loves to attract attention and will not disappoint when it comes to stage presentation. IF MU JUDGES DON'T THINK HEIGHT IS IMPORTANT, then she is a top 10 contender...but alas we all know better. I still think though that she will be a force to be reconed with at MT&T2007 if she does participate.

Anyways, lets hope the screenings are held early next year and some unknown stunners turn up.

What are the real implications to huge debt beyond leaving it a younger generation of tax payers? Reason I ask is that I argued with a staunch Republican after the presidential election, and he asked me "what do you care about the national debt?", guess he was referring to my age (60 +). And being Mongo (not well informed), I did not have a good answer for him.

Just reading up on some int'l news and found this...its still shaky but a final word will be given on Dec 19th! Zuleyka's role also seems to be a bit shaky according to many web blogs, it seems she has problems adjusting to new places??? What the heck is going on??

Controversy
On December 14, 2006 controversy erupted when TMZ.com published an article stating that Conner might be dethroned for unacceptable behavior in several New York City bars.[1] According to a report, sources told TMZ.com that Conner is "out of control" and needs to go.[2]

Executives from both the pageant, including Donald J. Trump, and its broadcaster, NBC, met the same day to discuss whether to release Conner from her duties. The Miss Universe Organization released a statement saying that Conner had not been dethroned and that they and Trump would be "evaluating her behavioral and personal issues" and would make an announcement within the week.[3]

On December 15, TMZ reported that Conner would be stripped of her crown, and that first runner-up Tamiko Nash, who gave up the Miss California USA title in October, would inherit the Miss USA title.[4] This has neither been confirmed nor denied by the Miss Universe Organization, which will make a decision and announce it on December 19, 2006.

The December 16, 2006 edition of the NY Daily News reported Tara had tested positive for cocaine, lustily kissed Miss Teen USA in public and sneaked men into their Trump Place apartment. One clubgoer described for the NY Daily News seeing Conner snort cocaine in one of the nightclubs where she drank regularly despite being underage, and The Daily News learned she recently failed a drug test. One NY nightlife veteran said "She really is a small-town girl. She just went wild when she came to the city. Tara just couldn't handle herself. They were sneaking those [nightclub] guys in and out of the apartment."

Prior to the controversy, Conner, Katie Blair (Miss Teen USA) and Zuleyka Rivera (Miss Universe) were all scheduled to appear at the Best Buddies Miami gala on December 16.[5] This has been changed, and now Blair is the only one who will attend the event.

If Conner were to be dethroned, she would be the first Miss USA to be stripped of her title since Mary Leona Gage in 1957. The only other MUO titleholder to lose her crown was Oxana Fedorova, who was fired for "not fulfilling her duties" in 2002.

I guess we can ask Kenisha about some of her experiences with Tara!!! snort...

P.S. Merry Christmas...

Hey those pics of Kenisha on Yahoo News surely rock, I am still looking for more pics though, Gettyimages.com usually covers the MU so I will look there too, I see though that Australia is receiving some media attention due to the porn scandal, probably we should send up a porn star next year, lol, just a joke but really Kenisha looks great, sadly we have the slash again this year, Faye was the last person to have the &, I guess Antigua,Serbia,St.Vincent all paid for their &s lol. Who is Kenisha's roommate though? I have a feeling its either St.Martin,USA or an Asian since we are normally roomed with India,Japan.

PS. I think the photographer placed USA on a stand since she is amazingly taller than the other delegates in this pic. LOL!

I am happy the MUofficaials left off the "&" sign because that would have taken 3 letter spaces rather than the "/" which takes one space. The name "Trinidad and Tobago" is a long one and anything that makes the Tobago part of the name higher on the sash so it can be seen more clerly is welcomed in my book.

PR along with Venezuela and Barbados have already caught my attention as women to look out for in the 2007 edition of MU. I am already wondering who will be in the line-up for MT&T2007. Will it be Keisha Quash, Valene Maharaj, Jenna-Marie Andre or some unknown who will take the local MU title? Both Keisha Quash and Jenna-Marie seem to have disappeared from the limelight since their pageant stints while Valene seems to be strutting her suff alongside some of T&T's best models on the catwalk. It will definitely be an interesting competition when the pageant company kicks off it screenings for the MT&T2007 edition.

What's going on with judges infatuation with Puerto Rico? She wasn't my choice by a longshot. In 1970 MissUSA,Debbie Shelton's 1st runnerup and Marisol Malaret's win sent shockwaves across America,Canada, and Europe. She was nowhere as beautiful as Debbie Shelton.Marisol was very atractive, but Debbie was so breathtakingly beautiful. She also had a remarkable personality. She is considered by a lot of pagaent watchers as one of the most beautiful women not to have won Miss Universe.Anna Maria Cumba was a chaperone for Miss Universe who said "Everybody thought Debbie was going to win.She was beautiful, congenial, intellegent, and independant."After the pagaent she was with Debbie a lot because Miss USA was under contract to travel with Miss Universe a lot.Anna talks all around it but stops just short of saying she should have won.Warren Egebo, heavily involved with pagaents, and says"Debbie Shelton was the prettiest Miss USA facially, and would have won Miss Universe in any given year".Again this is someone who stops just short of saying"Debbie Shelton should have won Miss Universe".1970 was just as much any given year as any year. Many have said politics had everything to do with Miss Peurto Rico winning.

...so I guess this is the end of the 2006 pageant participation for T&T (in terms of major pageant participation). I hope the next screening is held this year. Peter was very fortunate that Kenisha turned up at the last screenings. Anyways, if he decides to the do the screening next year I will not be worried though because I expect Valene and Kesha Quash to participate in the next MT&T edition. Provided Jenna does not enter, one of them will probably be MT&TU07.

Hello friends of the universe!...I have ammased a nice collection of MU pageant videos from the 60's till 2005 that I'd like to share with other fans. These videos are in region free DVD format with nice interactive menus. The shows are overall, of very good quality with respect to each ones time of production. From 1969 below are in B/W and 1970 above in colour. My prices are very good compared to market prices. So if interested, email me directly or just click on my name on the left, feel free to ask any questions and I shall reply with a video list/prices/payment & other important details....
I also have available on "THE MISS UNIVERSE HISTORY" documentary, awesomely produced with the pageant clips from 52-62 and much more never before seen footage and scenes from the pageant.
So go ahead and start your very own exciting collection and live over or view for the 1st time each exciting moment of this wonderful pageant, year by year!!...Love and Peace!...

She was one of the most graceful, natural delegates on the Miss Universe stage and had a smile that literally lit up the world. The problem clearly wasn't Kenisha. It was the judges who didn't see her true worth. I know so many people rave about Miss Puerto Rico's win, but Kenisha was clearly the standout of the night to me.

Hey everyone,

Just to let you know that ANGOLA IS miss World 2006. Its not that I like her I have not really followed the pageant but Miss World is their usually and obvious bias has made it very clear that she is the winner. She has had a private session at a late hour with the organisation, just like Miss Iceland did last year.

For the Caribbean - Jamaica and Puerto RIco will be the ones entering the final 16. They were both given a second interview by the organisation while the other Caribbean girls were left in their hotel rooms. Expect PR to win the Caribbean continental title since the PR Designer woman is on the panel once again inspite of the fact that last year she admitted campaigning hard for PR to win. We can expect that her opinion will not be objective.

In the Americas one will expect that Venezuela already in the final 16 will be given the Americas title and a top 3 spot. We all know Osmel has been threatening and he had a show to choose a legitimate winner to go to Miss World and the last time he did that his girl came in 2nd so expect Miss Venezuela to get a top 3 spot too more than likely.

IN Asia its going to be India and I expect her to get a top 3 spot this year as well. THey have been pushing india hard so I suspect the same thing will happen in the final night.

Inspite of the fact that I think all this is bogus, I am glad an African girl won. THe African girls were all treated like crap by the organisations chaperones this year. The Caribbean girls as well. Miss WOrld tends to focus on the girls whose regions are the most profitable, so Latin America, Europe and Asia are well treated the African and Caribbean girls are treated as an after thought.

But hey a black African girl, ( she is only 18 and very maleable just like miss world likes them) won. So great.

Tineke is a fabulous girl but she was miscast from the start. Tineke is a model, stiking looks, lots of sex appeal, plently mood and character in the face, but she is not a soft, safe and obviously pretty girl. That is what Miss World likes, soft and pretty, even Jenna was to vava Voom for them. Miss World likes an old time beauty queen type and Peter and crew make their girls to model and edgy. Maggie and Kenisha worked because at Miss World they were still able to do beauty queen and then turned up the model edge for Miss Universe. Miss World is stuck on beauty Queen where as Miss Universe went total model after 2003. That 2003 was the best turning point for Miss Universe Miss Japan, Chez Rep and Seb Mont turned the show model then we had Jennifer, Natalie and now the PR girl who all have a models edge. Who does Miss World have, Miss Peru, Miss Iceland, I love the 90's kind of beauty queens lol.

Tineke gurl pack your bags and comeback home, its not that you are not worthy of Miss World, MISS WORLD IS NOT WORTHY OF YOU>

Well I have been so busy in the past weeks that I did not even have time to make posts on this forum or any other than that. I have no idead where you got your info. from LaLa but I have to admit that after last year's beach beauty, I thought that Ms. Iceland would be given the crown. I totally agree with you that PR and Jamaica are going to get the top 2 spots. It is obvious to me that the "brains" of the operation was Mr. Morley because what I have seen in the last 3 years with the MW selection process has me wondering if it is Jack or A#S running the show. If the top 15-20 in the world were selected based on Merit then Tineke would have a chance but with this selection process don't expect a MT&T delegate or any delegate other than PR and Jamaica grabbing the top spots.

I hope Peter just dumps this MW franchise. I want to see what a## is going to want the MTNTW franchise rights for more than 2 years. Peter and Associates are better than this crap- ME and MI are better ventures. Ms. Morley is also realizing that her so-called "modern" selection process is hog-wash as is evidenced by her allowing one of the delegates from each region to be selected by a panel of judges. We all know that with a MPR campaigner on the judging panel no one is going to leave unscathed except PR when it comes to scoring.

MW is not current at all! No individuality is expectef from a winner-just plain old-world beauty.

My top ladies for the title this year are Venezuela and India. The most competitive in the Caribbean looks wise are (in alphabetical order) Aruba, Barbados, PR and T&T with Barbados in my opinion being a deserving Queen of the Caribbean possibility. Jamaica and PR in my opinion will be in the semis for the Caribbean this year just like last year.

I am no longer interested in MW or generating support for any MTNTW because regardless of how much she deserves to make the cut- MW is not based on merit but on biased online voting and latin judges who are Ms. Morley's friends who will skew the scores for the Caribbean region.

If we are not participating in ME or MI this year then as for MTNTU2007, I expect to see 3 blasts from the past as possible choices -Jenna, Valene or young lady who won the SS competition at the MTNT2006 edition. Who knows, a virtual unknown could pull a surprise win. T&T has the world class beauty to grab the MU07 title.

...your prediction that Angola would win was wrong but you were right on the money when you said that she would be Queen of Africa and who would make it from the Caribbean region. Personally, I never thought Angola was fantastic-maybe I was too caught up with beautiful Ms. Barbados- but Namibia had one of the most georgeous skin tones that I have seen at this year's pageant.

I was surprised to see who won and who were the continental queens-overall the quality was average -could any of these women even crack top 5 or even top 10 at MU- for the first time in my life I will have to say I don't think so-maybe, but not probably.

PETER NEEDS TO JUST BOYCOTT MISS WORLD-When Ms. Morley is no longer running the show then maybe he could look into the franchise rights but as it is -if Ms. Morley likes you or is friends with your nation's previous winners then you are going to get support. Give me a Donald Trump who only cares about who are the beautiful women any day over a Ms. Morley who caters to her friends- at least I will get to see real beauty and not a dress-up show.

For whichever countries from the Caribbean are participating in MW next year, only PR OR Jamaica will make it next year (or both might not make it) because Ms. Morley will look like a total Jacka$$ if the same 2 nations from the Caribbean place next year. So let's see who will be the "token" girl next year.

As for MT&TU07, Valene is the best choice from the previous year's beauties who should compete for the local title although I would not mind if a stunner comes out from the obscurity and just blows the competition away at our next MT&T final. Modern, edgy and confident are what Trini women are know for and it is about time that T&T makes a top 3 finish at MU.

Just in case we all on this forum forgot to say it-thanks Peter, Adrian, Alyson and crew- we all know that you along with Tineke worked diligently to ensure that Trinidad and Tobago would have the best possible representation that was humanly possible. God bless you all for your hard work.

I know you know my forum name because you cannot stand it when I say anyone other than a Miss Jamaica is the best. For the last couple of years I was wrong for thinking that alot of Jamaicans like to bash TNT girls but the reality is the vast majority of the bashing of T&T representatives in the last few years ha come from you Mario. You are certainly no fool thought as on the local Jamaican forum (was it the Star forum? not to sure) you spent quite a bit of time posting insults about recent MT&T's just a couple or so weeks before MU06 and you had a field day on Missosology posting insults about Kenisha. When MU06 kicked off you disappeared from you local Jamaican forum but kept posting on Missosology so that trinis who visited the Jamican forum during the pageant would not realize what was going on.

You really don't want everyone to "live good together" but rather that Jamaica should always be seen as the best which is underdtandable but the horrible thing is you seem to believe that insulting, maligning and denigrating other Caribbean reps. is the best way you can assist your delegate. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO BE MAKING SUGH TWO-FACED POSTS ON THIS FORUM. YOU HATE TRINI WOMEN PLACING INTERNATIONALLY IN THESE PAGEANTS AND NO AMOUNT OF HOGWASH YOU POST ON THIS FORUM IS GOING TO CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.

After years of talking trash on other forums about MTNTs you are in no position to be any moral voice on this forum

Trini 77 thanks for your response. Mario also pretends to be a lot of other folks, posting multiple times in support of Jamaica and non-support of TnT. I have been on the boards for years and it is so damn obvious. We should be proud of our region no matter what. At least I can say that we Trinibagonians and our board is VERY supportive of all the delegates in our region!

The Caribbean is long due another Miss World, this year JAMAICA has the best chance from the Caribbean - ie the complete package- super bright & articulate, vibrant & humble, & beautiful with charm galore. This is my first time on this site, & Im appalled at some of what is written. Do you know that Ms Jamaica has been one of the most interviewed contestants in Poland? She has appeared on Radio, TV & in newspapers, TVP-Poland TV have commented that Jamaica is one of the most liked & constantly in demand for interviews. SHes a pre med student, just completed her BSc degree in USA on a scholarship, shes bubbly, & very articulate. SHe was chosen to speak at the debate at that College in POland, one of six girls who was asked to participate. She might even with the POLISH HEARTS AWARD. TnT cannot always win or place, neither can Jamaica, it is a competition at the highest level, & todays Miss World is more about having a complete package with a vibrant spriit & personality. TnT represented her country well, but alas Ive seen better girls from Trinidad over the years. So support Jamaica, she represents the entire Caribbean, & has been selected to speak on behalf of the Caribbean by Ms WOrld, only because she is bright & personable & beautiful inside out. HEres a photo of Sara, Ms Jamaica, with Unnar, Ms World 2005, at the jewelry museum in Poland this week, yes, birds of a feather do Flock together..Would be nice to have another Miss World from the Caribbean regardless of whether shes from Trinidad or Jamaica..as for Puerto Rico, thats a fix, every year that Forsyth woman sits on the panel & push Puerto Rico, & thats a shame...there are other far more deserving girls....

I fasted from this site for a good few weeks, but as I return now, all I can say is that I am not surprised at all about what is taking place, I do believe Tineke probably has a few horrible pics, but we got to remember the pics don't count, take a look at Iceland's (current Miss World) pics during the pageant last yeah!!! Freaky! The Miss World Pageant just basically sucks now, it has for the past few years! They definitely need help, probably hosting it in Latin America, something!!! We must focus on Miss Universe now!! Forget Miss Earth and d Filipino crap, as well as Miss World. Peter & Associates are wasting money!!! Tineke I believe is trying her best, Jamaica is my pic though..I am Trini but Jamaica is rocking despite her luggage fiasco! I believe Caribbean countries should abstain from Miss World as well as all the countries in the 'New World'. The pageant is plain 'old world crap!'

Hey Guys does anyone know who will be representing Trinidad & Tobago at Miss Earth this year? And does anyone have any information Valene Maraj? Will she be competing at any International competitions any time soon? By the way do u all see how big of a difference the hair made Tineke look? Yes it's the smaller things that are overlooked...I have to agree though with the poster who said it's a little too late...this should have been done long before..she looks fab with the new hair style...her whole appearance has changed..so I am still hoping for the best..at least if it's one thing the training that she underwent with the team should help her win the spot with the judges.
So all the best on the final night!
To all the regulars and supporters I hope that u have voted...It's not over until the finals so do have a pleasant day!

I usually love Ms.T&T year after year. But I'm left wondering about Ms.T&T World this year! Does Peter and Co. have something up their sleeves? Is there a surprise of some sort? Because, this girl isn't getting the attention that Ms. T&T usually gets! Maybe he should have sent Valene..or maybe he should have sent Faye instead! I think Faye would have done very well in Ms. World(providing she was given a chance.) However, I'm yet to see what happens with this girl that is currently there! And they should have more hair styles for her...the few pics of her I've seen..there isn't alot of styling or anything! Can someone find another hairstyle for the girl...That is not exactly glamour..Have it straighten or something!!!!!!!!! Go T&T...Be the next Ms. World!

What goin on with Trinidad? C'mon guys Tineke isnt strinking at all, even her pre pageant pics. Shes not stunning, the hair is bad..no character or expression in pics. I usually behind Trinidad girls. Most of them are hot and spot on. I like Barbados, not the prettiest, but shes got character, theres something thats special about her. Bahamas is gorgeous, havent seen a bad pic yet, very impressive. Jamaica is ok. Puerto Rico will get the votes.

Yes. i dont like how her hair looked in some of the pics but on the whole Tineke is a very attrative young woman. Well some of you guys would remember when missosology had posted the prelim reviews and they outright "predicted" that Magdalene walcott would not have made it. She placed!! They said "hope she enjoys her month long trip" etc etc. I dunno about you but i am proud of Tineke and i am glad that the judges will choosing a girl this time round and with all the training peter et al have given her, i'm sure she will do well..

See what happens when we send a super duper stunner!!! Think about it Kenisha did extremely well and its obvious that ppl will compare other miss TnT's to her! The pageant is not yet over. Tineke will do her best and pls no more of those comments. She will rock!! Thanks to peter we are now regarded as a "power house" pageant nation and i have FAITH that Tineke will do well.

All the best Tineke..

To john: Can you give us some feedback on her hair style please? What else can we try? How about a more relaxed look? Thanks in advance john.. any feedback will be great...

What is going on with Tenika man ever pic i saw of her before the pageant was top notch flawless!! now she gets to Poland and to me she seems completely out of place... her hair is off, her makeup is off, her facial expressions in her pics are off.... the only think that seems to be a bit on target is her wardrobe and she is still not rocking it as well as it could be rocked. I honestly think compared to the other delegates in her group she is pretty close to the bottom of the pack right now. she is just not sparkling like we know she could... i dont know whats going on with her i had such high hopes for this young lady

Miss World is a horrible pageant, poorly organised, they are treating the Caribbean and African candidates like crap. Girls are getting food very late, many of them have really bad colds and the organisation is doing nothing about it. Some girls lost their luggage and the organisation could not be bothered. Imagine our girl had to lend some of her wardrobe to her sister contestants. THe dress that Jamaica wore for the welcoming was from Peter Elias. Tineke had to lend it to her. The voting thing as usuall is crap. I really think we should forget this pageant and concentrate our efforts on Miss Universe. Miss World is a cheap poorly organised crap show.

When it comes to the MWTNT franchise, I believe Peter and Associates should relinquish their rights to it as soon as possible. If Jenna and Tineke were sent to ME or MI we would have had at the very least two semifinalist placements. I said it before and I have said it again, ME would be a much better venture than MW as long as this online voting crap is in place.

I am a big supporter of our girls and i call it as it is. Fact is Tineke does not have what it takes for this (international)competition. She has the same expression in all those photos, and she does not stand out. But hey, we have been doing so well lately, im sure next year we are going to come back with a bang. She should enjoy the experience, cause im sure it would help her grow alot. but out chances of making it in (in my view) are very slim. Maybe with some more time for training she could have been on par with Faye and kenisha and other successful delegates.

Tineke would be a fantastic finalist at MW but we need to get her image out there and vote. Why does it seem to me that if I don't post pics of MTNT on forums no one except maybe John will do so. Come on people- if everyone puts in a little effort into getting Tineke's pics on website then she is going to get alot of exposure.

It seem that which ever forum I visit there are pics of Ms. Bahamas along with PR, DR and a numer of the other Caribbean delegates. Let's at least make the effort to support our fantastic rep. She has definitely worked her butt off to get into the best physical and mental shape that she could attain so that she could represent us all on the world stage. She deserves our support.

Tineke is such a georgeous and ambitious young lady. We should all feel very blessed to have such phenomenal representation at MW06.

Just enter your email and you'll be sent a link to vote.

HERE are the rules for choosing miss world contestants..

The 104 contestants have been distributed in SIX regional groups, and the top 2 of each group will advance to the finals. This year, the audience will have the opportunity to vote for their top favorite in each geographical region. The most voted contestants will advance to the Top 16 semifinalists.

Here is how the finalists will be selected this year:

(6) winners from each geographical region chosen by SMS and internet votes
(6) contestants from each region chosen by a panel of judges
(4) winners, from each of the fast-track events

Totalling 16 semifinalists.

In addition, this year's Miss World contestants have been allocated numbers (see table below). You will be able to vote via phone or SMS (where available) when the "Vote for Me" and "U-Decide" TV specials are aired (where available).

The order you see here is also the same order of appearance that the contestants will have during the 56th Miss World finals on September 30th.

Please forgive me..I Honestly don't mean to sound negative but i have been reading post by regulars here and i have to agree with those who have a problem with the "BIG hair" My gosh..why is it that we don't seem to learn from our mistakes...PETER ADRIAN ALLISON....please do something about the stylists...what the so called professionals seem to believe looks good isn't always the best "look " for our delegate..Tineke is so beautiful yet she is being denied recognition ...yes we know that the competition has grown to be very crappy but we always seem to have hair issues...What is so wrong in giving the darn people what THEY want and not what we wantyes we want to set her apart..but not like the way they are doing now.....we can do better and there is always room for improvement...i know she can be transformed once the hair goes straight..the fuzzy hair is a no no..and also to note when John posted initial pics with her she never looked that way...please give them the super model look that they are asking for...ither that or do not renew the franchise...let us use our already limited resources wisely.
Like Kenisha, once we make the finals or even win a fast track event..we could get more media attention..by then change her look..straight hair..i.e, continue working the wardrobe and i am SURE we can pull off the semis...it's not hard...every year we jus do the same stupid thing over and over...Jenna...a true natural beauty....i will always love her..she was robbed last year...surely had the big hair working against her...so is Tineke..so MW stylists wake up...smell the coffee...give MRS MORLEY what she wants...A new MW from TRINIDAD & TOBAGO!

Wow! To be honest I was really beginning to give up on our Miss World venture. After reading this article, that is incorrectly headlined, in the Woman Express I have renewed faith.

Good luck Tineke. I truly wish you all the best in all of your future endeavors.

Article below.

Future ambitions:

To be a successful woman in the professional world, having been well travelled thereby being able to be a positive influence in my country and hopefully on a larger scale, in the world.

Where were you born and where did you grow up?

Born in a family hospital and grew up in a developing neighbourhood called Westmoorings located to the north of the island, my childhood days were spent surrounded by many young families and, as such, not only was I blessed with the company of my sisters but also that of amicable neighbours of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. As an adult, I have learnt that the innocent harmonisation of cultures around which I grew up was not a norm, but an exception; yet I hold that harmony is still possible in spite of a world so torn.

Tell us a little about your country.

Trinidad and Tobago, small country with big passion; people with boundless faith in our destiny; we are the smallest country to ever qualify for the World Cup; home of the cricket legend and World record holder, Brian Charles Lara; host of an annual two-day (and -night) street party called Trinidad and Tobago Carnival (and the entire world is invited).

Tobago is the nest of over 150 spices of birds, breathtaking beaches and a diverse people who are all embracing.

Tell us a little about your family.

I was born to two wonderful people, now married for 30 years and am third in a line-up of four girls.

Nicha, the first sister, was born with a learning disability, disallowing her to live the same life as the rest of us. Her handicap, although not physically evident, restricts her ability to perform difficult tasks. Great moments are shared with the family when she successfully accomplishes her everyday tasks, making us all so very proud.

Growing up with Nicha has certainly made me aware of how thankful we must be for the simple joys in life.

What is your favourite food?

Coming from islands with a variety of cultures makes it difficult for someone with taste buds such as mine to choose a favourite food; however, I must admit that the scent alone of East Indian food always wins my bid. I especially favour roti, which is similar to a burrito--but softer, filled with channa (chickpeas), beef or chicken, mango, and flavoured with curry and other East Indian spices.

Favourite music?

I have two types--soca, that is a fusion of calypso, African and pop mixed rhythms; and I also enjoy vintage Jamaican dancehall.

Having lived a somewhat "regimented" life, because of academics and being a junior national swimmer, these types of music allow me to enjoy spontaneous moments of dance that are so liberating, especially during stressful times.

Do you have any pets?

Due to the fact that I was required to undergo rigorous training as a national swimmer and also to keep up with my academics, I learned at an early age that compromises and sacrifices were made to achieve goals. Therefore, I was not able to have pets due to fact that time did not allow me to care for them properly.

What are your career ambitions, and how do you plan to realise them?

Having worked in the tax department of Ernst & Young, an international accounting firm (one of the Big Four firms) for the past four years, my love for taxation has certainly been discovered. However, as this is all that I know in the accounting world, I have opted to spend some time in the auditing department, thereby not closing the door to other avenues.

Although eager to expand my accounting knowledge, my short stint in the tax department has me wanting to further my career in taxation. I hope to return to the UK to pursue a Master's degree in international taxation law. In addition, I will attempt to use my position as Miss Trinidad and Tobago, an Ambassador for my country, to influence positive change and a new way of thinking.

What jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/unusual?

From a sales clerk in a CD kiosk, to a maitre'd in a popular Italian restaurant to modelling and accounting, I think that the most unusual will have to be modelling. Although seen as a hobby, it is also a job.

Modelling in a swimsuit, wearing heels in the middle of a field, constantly being under a microscope, crazy backstage and behind-the-scene preparations; what could be more interesting than this?

It's amazing to see what is produced from a photo session, often times I cannot believe that it's me that I see in the picture. It's interesting how composed models look when brought on stage after being dressed in a very frenzied scene that exists backstage at all fashion shows.

The glitz, the glamour, the friendships, the fun and laughter make it all worth it in the end. Modelling allows the confidence to be boosted and womanhood to be praised, recognising her strength and knowing that a beautiful face isn't all it takes!

What is the proudest moment of your life (not including winning your national title)?

At the age of 11, I was selected to represent my country in swimming. I was part of a four-man relay, which holds a record to this day as it was the last year at which that particular age group was allowed to participate in those games.

It is always self-fulfilling when you achieve something that you have dedicated yourself to, sacrificing, giving your all--body, soul and mind.

If you had a personal motto, what would it be?

If you conceive it and you believe it; then you can achieve it.

Any other interesting facts?

I am a certified accountant that models, which is odd in a world where accountants are known to lead very conservative lives. I completed my ACCA whilst working.

In school, I belonged to the Legion of Mary, visiting various orphanages and trying to bring joy to those less fortunate, especially at Christmas time.

Like Miss World, I hope to bring a new meaning to the term "beauty queen" as a woman who exudes confidence, strength and faith. Maintaining her exterior whilst continuously working on her interior, developing the body, soul and mind everyday. Athletic, poised, intelligent, strong, funny and confident are words that have been used to describe me. I always strive to be the epitome of a true modern woman.

I had to look all over to just get one paltry pic of Tineke while Jamaica, Martinique, PR and DR have quite a bit of pics in circulation already. Even beautiful Barbados is battling to get her pics out there- thank goodness she placed in the BW competition because she would have been in the same predicament as MTNT.

I am at a loss. We send a supermodel girl in 2005 who was arguably the best in the entire Caribbean region and she is not noticed. We send a young lady who has one of the most georgeous faces which the media should love and again we are not noticed. I think the pageant company is learning as we (the fans) are, that unless we win a fast track event then we will probably not make the finals even if we have the best competitor in the region.

Next year Peter should just hold a singing competition- let's face facts, the MW organization could keep bullshi##ing us by saying it is a "talent competition" but in the last 3 years only singers won- how predictable based on the "well qulaified" judges. Anyways, after 3 years of singers I expect a politically correct winner this time who is not a singer.

MW is like a dead dog. There is no type of excitement on the missosology forum apart from a paltry showing by some fanatics. MU is officially in my mind the most reputable pageant in the world followed by Miss Earth.

Tineke, honey if you are reading this, you look absolutely fantastic (apart from the hair issues from the BW competition) and the whole of T&T is really proud of you. I wish that every competitor was on equal footing when it comes to qualification into the semis.

All of the ladies from the Caribbean region are all so beautiful this year. In my opinion these are the top 7 competitors in our region in alphabetical order:
Aruba
Bahamas
Barbados
Cayman Islands
Jamaica
Puerto Rico
Trinidad and Tobago

I expect Jamaica or PR to win the vote this year but beautiful Barbados could pull a surprise. Martinique probably has the best face in the Caribbean bunch and could also snag the top spot in internet votes.
I can't wait to see all of the young ladies in their competition gowns.

But somehow she is not living up to her potential to me... it seems that instead of progressing in the competition and moving ahead she seems to be dying out a bit....i do think she has one of the best wardrobes of any Miss TNT but she's got to work it more fight to get you self on those media shots i hope she out to draw blood at the sports competition i all know she is a prefessional swimmer so hopefully it pays off for her.

The lazy person's way of posting the pic would be to pull the image to your desktop and then go to IMGspot.com and choose file (your pic), click "host it" and then the URLs come up. Copy the entire URL from the last box named "Your image in HTML" and post it in whatever message you want.

I personally believe and really support a total abstinence period for Miss World, I see it as rubbish now and a waste of time and money, we should just focus on ventures that really give us some recognition and that we can really work our butts off at and expect some good results.. re Miss Universe and even Miss Earth. Miss World needs to get its act straight and return the pageant to its former glory, not a betting house and money making organization. WE ARE WASTING PRECIOUS MONEY!!!

MW has lost alot of credibility in the last 2 years with the 2005 edition being the worst MW that I can remember in the last 12 years or so. I see that Julia is starting to wake up a bit. Apparently she got better judges for the Beachwear competition so that we are not left asking ourselves what the hell are 50% of the qualifiers doing there. Only one or two of the 20 BW finalists looked like they were luck to get in.

Additionally, only one of the 2 from each region will be selected by internet votes while the other will be selected by the judges. Julia needs to wake up by the end of MW2006 and learn to cut out this zone crap and online voting crap. The Caribbean usually has at least 3 very strong delegates at each MW edition and this year is extremely competitive-Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba and PR (with her new breast implants which finally made her body look less weird) are all strong competitors followed by Jamaica. I would be very surprised if the voting was in T&T's favor. As for the judges, well after allowing a PRican franchise holder to adjudicate the finals last year I don't have much faith in the results. Additioanlly, why not have a top 20 or top 25?-after all, there are over 100 young ladies competing.

When it is all said and done, I have lost respect for the MW pageant and its organizers. The pageant is a crap-shoot with the online voting and zoning restrictions! I don't know about anyone else, but when I look at a beauty pageant final I want to see the most beautiful women, not 5 ordiary looking young ladies, a couple of "what the heck are they doing there" and only one real stunner in the top 3.

Miss Earth would be a much better venture for the TNTorg. than MW. If Peter relinquishes the MW franchise rights/defers renewal at the end of the current contract-alot of people would probably want to raise hell but I will not be one of them. MW=A WASTE OF MONEY, TIME AND ENERGY in my opinion (Kenisha was a one in a million rep. and it would be very difficult to consistently find someone who was not only competitive but who some of those "crazy" MW judges would like).

Jenna and Tineke should have been sent to ME!

I am still amazed by some people. I stated a known fact about a PRican pageant holder being a judge- an issue that was mentioned last year-can't recall the website and the fact that Jamaica and PR consistently get their pics on the MW official website and here you have "hinting." It is a fact. No one was attacking Jamaica. LOL! Jamaica and PR have had fantastic success at MW and so it is no wonder Julia likes to feature them on her website.

Best of wishes to all the Caribbean delegates.

I think that Barbados or PR could grab the Queen of the Caribbean title this time around. I would love to see Barbados in the finals.

I don't know how I forgot to mention her. She could be a model on th cover of a magazine. Love her look. Aruba and DR also look great- this is what I mean, the Caribbean has so many wonderful ladies to choose from and Ms. Morley is just cheating us by not allowing the best of the best in the world (and not just regionally) enter the semis. The Caribbean could easily produce 3 or 4 semifinalists at the very least, if zoning restrictions and this voting crap was not in place.

Miss World 2006's Reality Check

The initial week has given us a chance to really change our perceptions of pre-pageant hype to reality, but there's plenty of time to see the girls change even more in the pageant run-up.

Venezuela's victory in the Beach Beauty contest was quite a surprise for someone I had earlier written off, but she deserves it every bit for physical preparation and a transformation of herlook to something more natural.
One interesting fact is that Beach Beauty seems to be an influential fast-track event:
2003 - 6 of the 9 remaining finalists placed
2004 - All 4 of the remaining finalists placed
2005 - 3 of the 5 remaining finalists placed
2006 - Perhaps Singapore, India, Czech Rep. and Angola can repeat this?

Here are some major highlights in the groups:

AFRICA: Nigeria was long-perceived to be the front-runner in this group, but reality does not quite live up to expectations. Instead, Angola has soared ahead and looks set to top this group (for now). Congo DRC is also very well-styled and good-looking.

ASIAN PACIFIC: The group is more "Up in the air" than expected. South Asian beauties India, Singapore, Australia and Sri Lanka all look fantastic and could make it. From the East, Vietnam is tops in beauty followed by Mongolia, but Japan and Philippines are the clear leaders in style and fashion. Which will it be?

AMERICA'S: Venezuela's surprise win squeezes this group quite a bit, but the remaining spots look increasingly left between Chile (a porcelain doll), Brazil (Vivacious and modern looks) and Panama (the "model").

CARIBBEAN: Facially, Martinique is still ahead in the group as expected, but does she have the oomph? Powerhouses Dominican Rep., Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Trinidad have not lived up to expectations. Barbados is a pleasant surprise who could overtake them all!

NORTHERN EUROPE: Ukraine is still the leading lady from this group, but she has the blonde beauties, Czech Republic and Sweden, right on her tail, while Denise Richards lookalike England is also heating up the competition.

SOUTHERN EUROPE: Sultry Greece is still ahead, but she is losing ground fast to the likes of Spain and Lebanon, who both look incredible.

Of course, there are still THREE weeks to go. Opinions will change and as the Talent and Sport fast-tracks are held, other surprises may emerge (or not!). We can only hope the delegates enjoy Poland and don't let this competition get the best of them, because it is far from over.

I also want to mention:

The fantastic press coverage and organization of everything in Poland, something I did not expect for an international pageant being held in Europe.
Having one continental semi-finalist picked by the judges is also an excellent innovation, although there are clearly a few groups more competitive than others, even if the semi-finalist group will be geographically balanced.
Miss World's fast-tracks, in addition to the voting system, are forcing directors to find more and more well-rounded women of the 21st century...and it has helped to keep the pageant relevant, with many national contests adding their own 'fast-track' events.

Tineke looks lovely but I have come to the conclusion that the big hair for BW competition is problematic based on Jenna's and Tineke's pics. Additionally, Tineke's complexion looks too pale in this pic but she is still quite a beauty.

Hey guys, nice to see you all back.. Boy i was really disappointed that we did not place for the swimsuit finals but i did not see any of the pics yet so i have no idea how our girl looked..I only saw one pic of her in her pink number, she looked good but good would'nt cut it here...

Give them what they want...
I really DONT like how her hair looked. i'm sorry if i sound critical. I really think she should change it. I think long straight hair would look fab on her or even a style similar to miss tnt universe 2004 Danielle Jones.. she needs to change it and do it quickly.. (what about extensions?) how do we create a miss world?

Unfair...
This Voting system will put us at a huge disadvantage.. look at last year.. great rep no placement.. What do we have to do to get placed? yeah as someone said market her post pics on other boards but tineke has to want this and hopefully things will fall in place for her.

What do we do??...
I have confidence in the pagent company but as someone said this is miss world and not miss universe.. It seems that miss bahamas and puerto rico are the ones to beat so far in our region.. i love bahamas' hair..

I dont know what to do or say.. i sorta feel helpless..

To the pageant company: Can we get some updates on her progress??

A special hello to Peter Elias and Associates!

Well I was quite surprised to find out that MT&T did not make the cut to compete for the Beachwear final on Friday. This year's list of the top 20 BW semifinalists however appears to be a better bunch overall as compared to last year's bunch. Beautiful Barbados and PR made it and will be rep. our region in the competition.

As for media coverage, I am again at a loss- I don't know what T&T has to do to get media coverage, short of sending only white, big hair and busty delegates. I am still disappointed with the vote for me system. Peter should really rethink his position about renewing the MTNTW franchise when the curren license expires. MW is still a "hit and miss" competition when it comes to the selection of the semifinalists and TNT has never benefitted to date from the last 2 pageants. If Kenisha had not made the top 3 in beachwear and fitness competition and placed in the finals of the other fast track events then she would have never placed with the voting system-Kenisha worked her as# off for her semifinalist spot.

All that aside, with respect to Tineke wearing the pink gown for the gala dinner- Was it the best choice?-well I think that she could have looked alot better in another gown but I got what Peter & Associates were trying to do. She definitely had a look that was distinct from the other Caribbean delegates and it was a very classic look. Although I liked the gown, it did not "pop" -that is, it did not make her stand out. I loved the look though and the only reason I have a reservation about the choice of the pink gown is because we need to attract attention for Tineke (I hate this online voing crap!)

I agree with you Trini77. Dont know if i liked the gown to much.. that said however there is very little that Tenika cannot rock she is very classy and regal. I would not be to worried about her not placing in the swimsuit finals she had a 50-50 shot of making it in those finals as hot as she is i dont know if Swimsuit is one of her stronger categories.

In regards to the coverage that Tenika is getting.. or lack there of... i think your pageant company and fans have to step up and take it up on their own to market her and get her image and personalitly out there there is nothing on other forums about Tenika...no interview or bio done on Global beauties. Guys got to start thinking outside the box to pull those votes in... Countries like Puerto Rico has the Chaperone Constantly snaping pics and plastering them all over he net of their delegates.

Hopefuly thing work out for the best for Tenika.. Buena Suerte Chica!

You can never predict what MW wants. You send extremly prepared girl like Maggie and only just noticed on the radar. You send an unforgetable face like Kenisha and she has to fight to get on target. You send a fantastic girl like Jenna and you miss.

What's in store for Tineke, I don't have a clue! However I have some constructive critism for her though... MW is NOT MU! You can not quietly come on the scene and then build momentum. You must come bursting out of the starting blocks.

With all this "pageant fever" we are all experiencing, I finally decided to start my personal crown and tiara collection!

I found a great web site where I was able to buy 6 crowns and tiaras, all of top quality craftmanship. I even learned that they will custom make a crown or tiara if you submit a sketch or drawing of it, for which they will give you a quote for.

Here are the six pieces I bought for myself, just lighlight the link and place it on the address bar.

Below is the actual link to the virtual store where you can see everything else they have!

Happy collecting,
Omar

Good evening fellow Trinis..

I am a Trini living in New York City and I recently travelled to Los Angeles for the live Miss Universe telecast.

Kenisha, in my opinion deserved to be in the Top 5. She looked stunning in her yellow dress, simple, but utterly elegant. She should had placed easily 3rd or 2nd Runnerup.

I do have several photos of the delegates, both pre and post final night, including some of Kenisha.

However, I do not know how to post them here in this Message Board, could someone assist me with the proper format?

Thank you
Colin James

"The lazy person's way of posting the pic would be to pull the image to your desktop and then go to IMGspot.com and choose file (your pic), click "host it" and then the URLs come up. Copy the entire URL from the last box named "Your image in HTML" and post it in whatever message you want. There is an alternative way to post a pic- you can email John (webmaster) for it. He gives fantastic instructions."

With all this "pageant frenzy" we've been experiencing, I decided to finally start my own personal crown and tiara collection.

I found a great web site that has quality replicas available of world famous and historical crowns and tiaras.

Last week, I received the first 2 I purchased, a stunning replica of the old Miss Universe crown, used until 2001 and, a breathtaking reproduction of Queen Alexandra of Russia, white and aquamarine blue state crown.

You can view them all at this site and judge for yourselves!

Let's all pray that the right young ladies make it into the semis at MW06.

Kenisha has already proven herself at MW and MU. Now the pressure is on Tineke to shine! Too bad MW is no longer based on merit but on a biased voting scheme designed to rake in millions of dollars.

Anyways, I will be praying for Tineke's success.

Have a great day everyone!

OK,first excuse my writing in English is no my first language. I have to say that Miss Trinidad and Tobago as always beatiful. For the first time in the history of Puerto Rico a real Puerto Rican young lady won the crown. Before in the past Miss Puerto Rico Universe represent the upper class white women from Puerto Rico. Zuleyka is the real deal from poor backroung and dark skin. I am very happy that a person that represent my color is a winner.

Interview with Tineke at www.caribbeanbelle.com

Belle: Tell us about your days of being a ballerina.
Tineke: My dance teacher used to put a ruler on my back to make sure that I stood straight! This certainly helped not only with my poise and posture, but it prevented me from developing some form of scoliosis! I also did modern and tap dancing—and doing different types of dance helped me to explore different aspects of myself. Dancing helped me to develop discipline, not only during practise sessions, but also during my everyday approach to life—and it is also one of the reasons I can perform with confidence in front of an audience. It is such a beautiful way to express moods and emotions.

Belle: We know that in your teenage years you were a national swimming champion. What do you do for exercise these days?
Tineke: I make sure to stay fit by going to the gym, walking, running (well I try to at least!) and doing sports– most recently squash. Exercise is so important for both health and mind, and it makes such a diff erence in the way I feel.

Belle: Surely our readers are interested in knowing about your fashion style. And surely they’d also love to know how you keep your skin looking so fabulous!
Tineke: Usually I wear whatever looks good! I try to keep up with the times, and most importantly, keep comfortable and feel good in whatever I wear. As for any beauty secrets, I wouldn’t say I have any-unless you consider the fact that I have sensitive skin a secret! My regime is cleaning my face twice a day and looking after any dark circles and puffiness under my eyes. However, I must admit that I’ve been getting many beauty tips since winning the Miss T&T title!

Belle: What are some of your favorite pastimes?
Tineke: Reading, fashion, numbers (hmm....I guess the give away there would be that I’m an accountant!) and exercising. On behalf of my Dad, I’ll add ‘liming!’ I have limited time after work though, so I don’t get to do as much as I’d like. I read all sorts of books...right now I’m reading ‘The Power of Positive Thinking’ by Norman Vincent Peale and right before that I read a trilogy based on the life of a Saudi Arabian woman...a real-life story. I also like movies, especially comedies, and pretty much anything with a good plot that can capture my interest. As for music, I like old dancehall and soca, in particular.

Belle: So how did you end up entering the Miss Trinidad and Tobago competition? What are you looking forward to the most?
Tineke: To tell you the truth, everyone who knows me was surprised when I entered! Although I model, being in a beauty pageant is totally different, for example, modeling is a lot about portraying ‘attitude’, but in a pageant the delegates have got to be smiling all the time! It wasn’t exactly my lifelong dream to be Miss T&T, but after much support and encouragement from family and friends, I entered because I realised that I’ve got a lot more to gain than lose from being in the pageant. I’m hoping to become more refined not just in body, but in mind as well. It promises to be a fantastic learning experience, and I hope to become a well-rounded woman after it all. I also have the chance to make my country proud, and I’m looking forward to meeting all the delegates and being exposed to their cultures, and being in Poland and experiencing the life there.

Belle: What do you think is the most important strength that you bring to the role?
Tineke: Confidence. I say this mainly because of the many emotional battles that I will encounter along my journey to Miss World; I’ll surely receive not only constructive criticism in every sphere, but destructive criticism as well. When faced with this, I will have to remain strong and confident that I can indeed be a true representation of the culture, warmth, intelligence and beauty of our country and its people.

Belle: People say pageants are just about parading pretty girls around in pretty dresses and swimsuits, and that they belittle women. What’s your take on this?
Tineke: Honestly, those were my thoughts at first, but after reflecting on the women that these pageants produce, I realized that this was truly not the case. Now I see that pageants are about recognizing the worth of women and appreciating their overall beauty and priceless qualities, like warmth, strength, intelligence, ability to manage time—a great feat when having to manage work and training for the pageant—and effectiveness in balancing their energy in every aspect of their lives. Being a woman takes a lot more than just maintaining a great face and physique— it’s also about being able to go through hardships while carrying on in life. We women tend to be more emotional creatures, and as such, are more vulnerable to breaking under pressure. However, we show our true strength by overcoming these hardships, while at the same time successfully playing the roles of lover/wife/mother/sister/ daughter/housewife/professional and the list can go on and on. Pageants recognise and praise this!

Belle: What do you think sets a Caribbean delegate apart from others on the Miss World/ Universe stage?
Tineke: The seemingly mysterious ethnic mix! The first thing people think is, “What does she have in her?” as her obvious beauty is the first thing that strikes them. Caribbean people have a great appreciation for diversity, and they’re naturally warm, friendly, confident, and have no qualms about speaking honestly to people and initiating conversations. According to Desmond Tutu, we live in a cosmopolitan world and are a rainbow people.

Belle: So what’s your ethnic mix?
Tineke: I’ve got a bit of just about anything and everything! Chinese, Portuguese, African, Indian...a true ‘callalloo!’

Belle: Professional women often have problems in finding the right balance between career and family. Which comes first for you?
Tineke: Family, definitely. Growing up in a family of six showed me the importance of family unity, and the role of each member. My parents have had to, and continue to sacrifice, giving selflessly for each of us, making us all realise that the material things aren’t what keep us together and get us through everyday life. They’ve taught us the values, morals, and principles that we so diligently display (or attempt to, at least!). My sisters and I have learnt the value of sharing and recognising that we all need each other in this world. Support and encouragement, love and care all start at home, and these influence and build character.

Belle: What inspires you?
Tineke: The fact that there is so much to live for. There is such a big world out there and so much to live for that if I were to let it pass me by, I’d miss out on a great opportunity to just.....live.

Belle: Tell us about your spiritual life.
Tineke: Spirituality is extremely important in everyday life. I derive my spirituality from my Catholic base, and place a lot of trust in God. Each person has a different way of being in touch with his or her spirituality. For me, I believe that God has a plan for each of us, and whatever He gives us–good or bad–He will take us through.

We at Belle thank Tineke for allowing us to get to know her better, and on behalf of our readers, wish her all the best in the upcoming Miss World pageant on 30th September in Poland. Good luck Tineke! We know you’ll make us proud

First of all I have to thank Peter and Associates for making this years pageant the most sucessful pre miss universe pageant that TNT has had to date..I have never seen so many people have TNT in their top 10's before..

I know that Trini77 in particular, myself and others worked tirelessly around the clock to keep Kenish'a name out there, to give her every possible chance at the crown..

For that reason I was happy and pleased that the hard work paid off, strangely enough and felt no bitterness in my heart and i do love Miss Puerto (simply put, she could do no wrong) I hope she feels better now... she fainted 40 minutes afer winning the crown..

I do think we have to be thankful that we have been so consistent these past years and put all the nay sayer to rest and with class..

Time and time again we have proven the masses wrong or change their limited definition of what beauty is, so I consider us trendsetters in every way..

Oh about the costume..

Even though I like Japan's costume, I was Disapointed the Kenisha did not win best National costune because there was nothing else quite like it..so amazing to watch in motion..

I expressed my disapointment with Donalds almost demeaning approach in his tv interview on what the pageant repersents, when so many little girls hope to be like Miss Universe, as it was the standard for grace, poise and beauty and brians..

Not sure all these traits count for much these days..but i guess with every thing change can make you stronger if you stay in the fight.I know that we can continue to create winners without making our delegates watered down. We can continue to provide the world with our quality beauties..

I'll let you guys vent your fustrations if you still have any now, so we can regroup for the next competiton ahead, remember that the more we stick together the better our chances internationally...

John..

Subject: Finalist Kenisha dazzles (25th July 2006; Newsday)

Even though Puerto Rico’s Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza captured the pearl-studded Miss Universe 2006 crown, local finalist Kenisha Thom’s beauty continued to dazzle the pageant audience in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

In some ways, Thom upstaged the Latin queen at the Coronation Ball held at the Shrine Auditorium, after the live broadcast of the pageant.

Thom, in an interview from Los Angeles yesterday, said guests at the ball told her they were fascinated by her beauty and performance on stage, and felt that she was their queen.

Bombarded for autographs and pictures, Thom said the attention showered on her kept her away from family and supporters for the entire night.

“Those actions made me feel very appreciated,” she said.

During the live telecast of the show, which Miss Universe 1998 Wendy Fitzwilliam attended, one of the announcers described Thom as having the face of the competition.

Thom, who was chosen among the top ten finalists, said it was a great experience for her and felt satisfied she had done her best. She said she did not know what was her final placing, adding the results would be released at a later date.

“The experience was wonderful. I have no regrets and if I had to do it all over again I would.”

Thom, 22, said she felt calm when her name was not among the five finalists.

“When I wasn’t chosen in the top five, God’s presence was with me and that is why I was so calm.

“Before I even came up here (Los Angeles) I had left this whole show in His hands. Therefore, the decision is God’s decision and it was for a reason. It is up to me to see the direction that God wants me to go in.”

About the winner, Thom said” “Puerto Rico is a wonderful person, I wish her all the best. I hope she makes use of all her opportunities because if I were in her shoes I would.”

Mendoza, 18, told reporters after the show, “I always had faith and confidence in myself, but I never knew I was going to win.” She also stated that she hopes to someday star in US and Latin American films.

A shocked Mendoza defeated Japan’s Kurara Chibana, the runner-up, and Miss Switzerland Lauriane Gillieron, who placed third. Paraguay’s Lourdes Arevalos came in fourth with Miss USA Tara Conner rounding off the top five.

Thom said she felt very relaxed yesterday but a bit exhausted, hence the reason for her taking a break in Los Angeles before returning home in two weeks.

Well Kenisha is really a woman of substance. God bless you Kenisha-I know that the best is yet to come for you.

Trini77, u had me rollin' "plastic fantastic" is right! LOL! But you know I'm not surprised. I was a bit naive to think things would be different this year, but behind everything is money. Instead of choosing someone who is everything a MU is all about, naturally beautiful, intelligent, driven, focused, and compassionate they choose PR, enough said. Personally, I think teenagers have no business in MU or even in pageants, but then again that's what the teen pageants are for. Interesting point C, after Wendy, Mpule, and Lara it really did go down. Come to think of it, those were the last best 3 MU's ever! All were naturally beautiful and accomplished women and their final questions were noting compared to the crap last night. “What’s your biggest fear?”
Come on! But hopefully one day, people would be able to see true beauty. Kenisha, you are my MU2006 and the best Miss T&T since the extraordinary Ms. Wendy Fitzwilliam who looked absolutely amazing last night. Luvs u Wendy!!! Congrats to Peter and Co. and you guys are the best!

P.S. –On another note, I don’t know if anyone noticed this, but when they were interviewing the judges, the host Carlos, only interviewed all 3 black judges. Hmm, just something I found kind of interesting.

...just to let us know "we love minorities" so don't get upset when we kick your black a*# to the curb for something whiter. This was a calculated move to just appease nonwhite delegates who feel left out. One of the blacks interviewed however is latina and would only describe herself as black just to be politically correct in America but she is latina first and foremost! The only black judge who I was positive had no latina ties was the football player.

This was a loaded panel of judges not an unbiased panel. Trump knows what most of the judges view as beautiful.

Firstly, congrats to Ms. Kenisha Thom (MS.T&T) for making the top ten! I loved that they showed Ms. Wendy Fitzwilliam during the show even if it was for a brief moment! She looked stunning as usual!

My question is, does anyone knows what sex Wendy's baby was? If it was a girl..then, we just might have a shot at Miss Universe in about 18-25 year...providing the Trump family doesn't still have co-ownership of the MUO.

Congrats to Ms. Wendy Fitzwilliam..on the birth of your beautiful baby!

First of all the three black judges were very token and that was a ploy seen from a mile off. Claudia Jordan is a former MUSA delegate from 1997 who is now a 'Deal or No Deal' model - loads of experience there. John Lesure is an actor on 'Las Vegas' - even more experience in judging a pageant. Emmit Smith - former football player, whose wife coincidently is Pat Southhall MUSA 1994 1st runner up. So token yet so very far.

Miss Universe is over. In just over a month's time it will be Tineke's turn to shine. I have never seen Trini posters come together so well to help get images of a MT&T out into the global view than I did for Kenisha at MU. Folks, Tineke is going to need that same suppport and then some--as we saw at last year's MW, it is not about who deserves to be in the finals, it is about who gets the most votes. Several of the Caribbean countries have the financial resources that Peter Elias and Associates could only dream they could have on a good day- but yuh know what- nobody and I mean nobody in the Caribbean works their butt off more than out very own MT&T pageant company with next to no recognition. The Gov't don't care about showcasing T&T in a positive light through these pageants never mind we got more exposure from them in the USA in the last ten years than all TIDCO's "marketing" has done.

Peter and Associates are giving it their all so we need to do the same. I see Bahamas has Fadil doing their pics- well we have Calvin French and based on what these 2 did with Kenisha I think we all saw where the true talent lies. Get ready because when the MW pageant start we are going to have to post on all the forums we could find.

C guyl, I know you said that you want to start to post pics now but I think we need to keep Tineke's new pics for when the competition kicks off so that she can be seen as a fresh face. There are already 3 wonderful pics on the MW site that people can see and post. Those are already testament to her undeniable beauty. Anyways, Trinis are know for bringing their A game when it counts so I think we should do that...but yuh know Peter and Associates are the experts so if they decide otherwise then I am fine with that.

Anyways people, get ready because Tineke is going to rock the competition at MW06.

Thank you PB for your concern I feel fine. I am frustrated though and I understand that it wasn't for Kenisha and all of that but my issue is I do not think that it will be anybody's time unless you are Latina are a buxom sexpot that Trump wants to oogle.

I cannot speak for Trini77 but I understand because here are my concerns:

1. In 1998 Trump said that Muss Universe was taking on a new direction beauty with a purpose. After Wendy, Mpule and Lara it went all downhill from there.

2. When Ukraine was left out of the top 15 in 2004 because of her lackluster performance in the prelims Trump threw a tantrum and decided that all of a sudden he will choose five delegates to 'put' into the semis and brought back Ukraine the next year as a judge. PLEASE!!!!!!

3. All of a sudden Miss Universe has turned into a Spanish variety hour. Excuse me what about the 60+ delegates that are not Spanish speaking???? What about their fans?????

4. I understand that Telemundo is a partner or whatever but give me a break if I have to see them cast aside another delegate whilst persuing an interview with Miss Colombia I am going to scream.

5. Plastic surgery is out of control. These girls are being nipped, tucked and cast molded into fembots, whatever happened to NATURAL beauty. Some of these girls have had 5 or more surgeries by the time they compete in the pageant.

6. I was hearing some bemoaning on one of message boards about TnT being called every year. Well I did not hear these people complaining when almost every year India, Venezula, USA and Puert Rico made it.

My point is Peter and Associates and not forgetting Kenisha worked so hard and faced so much critisim to be slapped in the face like that. This pageant exposed many things that are wrong with the MUO and the partners,. Their blatant favortism towards certain countries and nationalities is nauseating. I was disappointed with Miss World last year but I am more so with Miss Universe.

Anyways if anyone has new pics of Tineke can we please get this ball rolling because it is my mission that she gets Miss World Caribben this year. Let's start posting those pics people!!!

... I was extremely disappointed that T&T did not make the top 5 when she deserved to be there but what pissed me totally off was when they basically took the title away from the beautiful Japan who actually has intelligence and gave it to someone who looks like Ms. Plastic Surgery and who we all know acted like she had nothing in between her ears when she did her close-up interview. This is the new beauty that Trump wants- totally surgeon packaged & superficial. Can you imagine this is the "healthy" image of a modern woman the MU org. has to boast about for the next year.

Yes the MT&T board is one of the most mature and level-headed forums out there but we need to really say something when just utter nonsense takes place. Apparently Miss Earth is turning out to be the only legitimate global pageant out there!

So, I agree with everything that C and Trini 77 has said. Let me play Devil's Advocate for a second and say that could there be some people out there that may think that TnT is a favorite of Trump since the placing in the last couple of years?

I know that our delegates were deserving (two of which I really wanted to win the crown - Faye and Kenisha) but I know that some people could have these thoughts.

I truly believe that Kenisha should have been in the top 5. Practically 95% of what I have read on other message boards agree to this. I believe the wrong girl won. Last night, the stage belonged to TnT and Japan. It should have been down to these two.

The first thing that we must always remember is the MUO is first a business. And its success is firstly equated into the final show's ratings, then on the marketability on the new MU.

So the winner of the show must be able to attract alot of corporate attension form particular markets and must be relatably world wide. And in the end the girl who wins MUST BE BEAUTIFUL. You do not want to have a situation where when the Average Joe sees the reigning MU in person wonders how she won!!! Remember its a beauty pegeant!!!

"And there your Top 20 parading in Swin Suit!" Wow look how many blondes! Maybe MUO want to gain some ground into the European Market where little attension is paid to MU because those European Girls do not need pegeant to spring board their careers as there is the more lucrative and establish Modeling Industry across there! Well in that case Ms. Switzerland has already won the show.

"Take a final look at the Tiop 10 in Evening Gown!" Ok only two blonde girls left, and all of the latinas are still there. What type of Top 5 are they looking for? Well if it was up to me it would be the Top 5 girls based on Merit...Switzerland who won SS, Puerto Rico who won EG, Trinidad & Tobago who's consistanly in Top 3 in SS & EG, Japan who's Ms. Personality, and then a fight for the fifth spot between Canada and Bolivia... Sorry Mexico, who was one of my pre-favourites, was out with that Eg performance.

But it's not up to me. And we would clearly know who MUO wants by the composition to the Top 5! If it's four latinas and Ms. T&T, then T&T won the show! If it's four latinas and Ms. Switzerland, then Switzerland won!

But alast I'm still confused... USA? Paraguay?
Ok Switzerland don't let the maufactured PR Latina outshine you!!! Oh God NOOOO, she doesnot use her interpreter! BIG MISTAKE!!! OK Japan the crowd is behind you, and how easy it would be to work with you, you multi-lingual diva!!!

But alast with four latin judges, one latin host, latin perfomances, and the enormous pressure from Telemundo PR wins...

All this about no scores being revealed to peak the audience interest-last time I checked the ratings for MU have been dropping to all time lows. Additionally, with the scores visible we get to see if the judges vote fairly or not. I remember in 1995 when former MV and MU Irene was a final judge, she just kept giving MV 9.99. Venezuela could have sent up a clown that year and she would still get 9.99. Latinas are pageant-fanatic people and they are always going to make sure their own advances ahead of the more deserving. Additionally, they dominate international forums preaching that "most of the delegates have plastic surgery so it is O.K." when in fact is all or almost all of the latinas who have plastic surgery and account for the majority of the nip and tuck crew at these beauty pageants.

Ban plastic surgery, get a panel of judges with some brains and who are representative of the world and who are not mostly latinas (regardless of what their American passports say) and just sit back and see who they choose when not being coached by the Donald!

What the hell happened last night? They were soooo ridiculous is was best they just had let JAPAN win. I am utterly fed up. Miss World has already felt my disgust. Now I have to rip apart Trump and his bandwagon of imps.
I felt it for Kenisha because this was her time to shine. So what the hell will be next? Online voting? I fed up. The Universe ain't ready for T&T yet. I am more sorry that this was Kenisha last chance to really grab that crown and in my eyes she got the crown the moment she came on in that top 20, then the dress blew me away. My Girl you made me the proudest pageant watcher. Wendy did it and now u have too, in my little world it was like 1998 all over again.
You're a winner and you don't need the UNIVERSE to prove it. We in Trinidad and your home town of Tobago, Lowlands, to be exact love you. Thanks for making our map a hell of a lot bigger. You and our Soca Worriors. We love you Guys.

Trini Venezuelano thanks for reminding me of another point. Last week I watched Project Runway and saw Miss USA on it. The task was to design a gown for her to wear at Miss Universe. Now when Tara came out in evening gown for the prelims she was not wearing the Project Runway dress. So immediately I said no matter how she did in swimsuit they would put her in the top 10 so that the dress would be seen.

Another spin, Santino Rice, I forgot about him. Of course he had to vote for the Project Runway dress as he is an alum from that show and would have also loved Puerto Rico's ' Las Vegas meets Cher' costume uh.. I mean evening gown.

This whole pageant was so staged it is unbelievable it is nothing short of a joke. Earlier this year when the Director of Miss France came out and called Trump and the MUO for the blatant favourtism towards certain delegates and countries, almost everyone shot her down saying that was distasteful but in hindsight she knew exactly what would happen. She said that it made no sense to send an all natural, intelligent delegate to compete with the Latina fembots and she was right!!!

I sincerely hope that Peter takes stock of what is going on. This man and his team work too long and hard and have too much invested in this venture to be slapped around and in the face like that. Peter thank for the dedication, Kenisha thank you for showing beauty, class and grace. Wendy looked awesome last night even though she did not realise the camera was on her.

Trini77 I erased my final thoughts of last nights competition because I thought I was being bitter, but I see that you share the same thoughts as I do. First up they should re name Miss Universe - Miss Telemundo Universe because it seems that every other year now a Latina is being crowned.

There are so many other deserving delegates outside of Latin America especially from Europe, Asia and the Non Spanish speaking Caribbean. What happened last night was utter b@$%s*!&!!!!! One of the judges, the cohost and the performer Chelo were Puerto Rican. Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega, although not Puerto Rican has ties seeing that Magali Febeles is the director of both Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Dominican Republic.

Paraguay had no business in that top 5 with that dress and overly caked make-up. I loved Miss USA but her performance in evening gown was LESS than stellar. I am soo sick of the direction Miss Universe has taken, 'Let us crown the pretty airhead and make sure we have at least 10 Latinas in so that Telemundo would get ratings' PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This makes me wonder when next will we see a Black or Asian Miss Universe?????? Apparently not under Trump's 'new and improved' system. So therefore my Asian and Black sisters prepared to be called but also be prepared to be steamrolled by the Plastic surgery brigade in their quest for the crown.

These Latin girls have been nipped tucked and snipped into an inch of their actual existance. It is so sickening when an all natural beauty is pushed aside like that.

Well i had the pleasure of attending the Miss Universe Pageant last night. 3 row seats front and center it was totally awsome. got to meet some of the delegates at the coronation ball after including your delegate Kenisha.

I agree with you it seems that the the last few years the panel of Judges have been over run with Latin Americans both in the Pre panel and final night.

Kenisha was fantastic last night she had an elegance about her that none of the other delegates had and legs or not in my eyes your girl won the swimsuit competition she rocked big time!!! i do think however once more despite the bias panel the Kenisha's gown was her downfall she look absaloutly stunning in it the color was great. But with a panel with so much spanish women who are known for their over the top dazzel dazzel gowns and Santino Rice from Bravo?!?!?! ( Come on have you guys seen the crap he designs they are so over the top its rediculous) i think Kenishas gown was a little to plain for them if you notice the top 5 were not the best fice but the fice with the most over the top gowns i though Paraguay's gown looked like a something you'd sleep in and switzaland's and japan looked like something from a Victoria Secrets magazine. USA looked like a float of some sort and well PR was nothing but a carnival costume. Sure if they had pulled out a few beads and sequins Kenisha might have moved on.

She was still to me the best on the stage so congratulations to your team and Kenisha.... look forward to seeing you guys at miss world :)

The latinas got what they wanted. We could try to invent excuses for why they voted why they did each year but the only common factor to Asians and Blacks not placing as high as they deserve is that Latinas dominate the pageant from start to finish-that is the one unchanging factor. I taped the show and at least 4 of the final judges have Latina ties and after looking at the gown presentation a few times I am convinved that Kenisha had the best walk (but I will say top 3 walk to be unbiased) and she was definitely a top 3 beauty-wise in the gown category. How many times do we see Latin Ameican delegates being black?-And if they are black they have to get big boobs and big hair.

I would not have been upset if a young lady with a brain who does not look like the poster child for plastic surgery won! A horrible top 5 is more than forgiveable if we have a great winner. I can't believe PRicans were attacking the fact that MT&T wears "too much makeup" but the delegate with the most make-up on last night was MPR.

MW went ten steps down with this biased online voting-MU now has crashed 20 steps down. Let's hope ME just keeps getting better and better with each year. Wendy is no longer the type of MU that Trump is looking for. Beauty without brains is in as is plastic fantastic!

Kenisha guyl, you were just fantastic. No MT&T could have done better. God was really with you because you had such poise and confidence on stage and you were such a standout among the top 20. We all love you!

With respect to the other 19, congratulations on their placements. As I suspected Ghana was left out of the 20 due to her lackluster prelim performance-As said previsously, she never sparked since she got to the pageant. Venezuela did not make it-shocked but again not too taken aback. She was not in my ss top 15-she just did not look competitive like the Jictaz that we saw at the MV2006 final.

Ethopia was a pleasant addition as well as Sweden.

Peter Elias & Associates, congratulations on a fantastic job. What a performance from our delegate! Please continue with your excellent development program that you have instituted for our MT&T reps. I look forward to the transformations of future MT&Ts into world class competitive beauties. Again, a HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!

In 2003, when Faye placed 10th and people were all over this board saying that she deserved a better place I kept my mouth shut because she deserved 10th place-I may not be as detailed in my description as others but I at least can tell what looks good and what doesn't.

After seeing the top 5 selection, I have no idea how USA and Paraguay advanced ahead of T&T, Columbia and Canada. All this talk about how a lady carries a gown is a pack of bulls**t. T&T looked better in gown and carried it much better than the aforementioned two. She even looked better than Switzerland (who in my opinion won the ss round and so the judges would not place her out of the top 5-she deserved to be there) I guess next time we need to dress up our delegate with a MUSA sash or a US territory sash because this "doing it by the book" thing keeps getting us screwed.

This was the most disgusting pageant that I can remember, not because we did not make top 5 when we deserved it but because of who won. I am not going to say much-Congratulations to MPR but I hope she grows up overnight! Japan was my pick for the crown-beautiful, natural and smart!

They should just ban plastic surgery in my opinion and let the final judges meet all the delegates for closed door interviews. Anyone can learn stage answers to expected questions. Anyways, Trump got exactly what he wanted as he stated on the Letterman show-someone who just looks good-nothing more! The MU final was a latin production from start to finish.

Additionally, I am very piqued that websites keep touting PR as the "face" of Caribbean beauty but she keeps her time with the latinas. How many times have we seen PR photographed with non-white delegates from the Caribbean? If MPR was not lumped in the Caribbean region at MW for online voting-would we have ever seen her socializing with the other non-white island girls and not just stopping for photo-ops?

Kenisha, if you read this, you are one extra-beautiful young lady with personality, style, elegance and ethics. These are all the reasons why I wanted you to win. Tonight I had a party at my house and my guests thought they same thing. We were all surprised not to see you in the top 5.

Kenisha's performance was flawless. Thank you Kenisha for giving it your all! You looked stunning and I am surprised you did not make the cut. May God richly bless you!

Peter Elias et al, finally I can say (post-pageant final) that you got it 100% right when it came to stage presentation, gown, accessories etc. I am soo.. in awe of the drastic improvement this was from last year when we had a triple disaster-gown, hair and makeup. This is the spirit of excellence we knew our pageant company was more than capable of delivering. I can't wait to see what you have done with Tineke.

You all (Peter Elias & Associates, and our very beautiful Kenisha) have set the bar higher for all MT&T delegates to come.

Kenisha, I feel so happy that you got this far in such a stiff competition. (Although I have to wonder how you did not make it) Thank you so much for once again showing the great beauty of Trinidad and Tobago to the world.

The whole of Trinidad and Tobago thanks you for your invaluable service to your nation.

I woke up with that in my head this morning. Thought it was some what appropriate for today.

Hey,
we were just referred to as a Pageant Fanatic country on missology’s forum. Now I don’t know about you all but I think we should take that as a compliment. It doesn’t matter that it’s an insanely ignorant statement.

Anyway, it doesn’t seem like anyone else noticed this, because I have been looking around, but Miss Mexico is wearing the same design that Canada wore last year. Just of course her dress is silver. Please tell me someone else saw this cause I would be weird being the only person to see it.

My list is actually a top 15 with who I think the MUO and Trump will put to make up the top 20. Finland is in there because I think that she is a Trump pick not because I was impressed with her, personally I think that she looks like a bodybuilder!!!!

The other MUO pick IMHO are:

Indonesia - For a second year Miss Indonesia is stirring up controversy at home and there was that tsunami earlier this week.

Thailand - The beer company is a sponsor, the swimsuits are from a Thai maker and former MU1988 from Thailand was a prelim judge. Quite frankly if none of these factors were in play she would not be in the top 20. I think she is cute but not MU caliber and her body needs toning.

Dominican Republic - So that Puerto Rico's best friend will help her not to feel lonely.

Bolivia - So that Amelia Vega can re - live her time on stage 3 years ago.

Well you definitely picked 4 of the girls I don't think lived up to top 20 material. Bolivia was never on my deserving to be there list-facial resemblance to Amelia Vega-yes- but no way near the body of Amelia Vega. The only one of the 5 possible Trump picks that I would not mind seeing in the top 20 is Thailand. I think she is different from the other Asian girls and I would not mind seeing her in the top 20 but she is not in my top 10 at all.
As I said before, you have one of the most realistic top 20 lists out there. I also thought that Tump like Finland.
Anyways, can't wait to see the final results tonight. I am just so proud of Kenisha already!

According to Global Beauties, Kenisha made the top 20 in the dress rehearsals. They will compete in swimsuit then top 10 then evening gown and then top 5.

This sign could go either way, let's pray that it is a positive sign.

Let's have some positive energy all day today!

Trini77 the link is back up on missosology's site. To the poster who was looking before go to the home page and click on the pic of Miss Mexico. So here is my final top 20, and as I have said I do not like to post before the prelim show as delegates ebb and flow.

Here goes:

1. Australia

2. Beligum

3. Bolivia

4. Canada

5. Colombia

6. Dominican Republic

7. Finland

8. Ghana

9. India

10. Indonesia

11. Japan

12. Mexico

13. Philippines

14. Puerto Rico

15. Switzerland

16. Thailand

17. Trinidad and Tobago

18. Ukraine

19. USA

20. Venezuela

I did not put the ladies in any particular order only alphabetically because I believe in letting whatever happens - Happen!!! Good luck tonight Kenisha you really are a shining star!!!! TnT is so proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that your list is definitely more realistic than mine and C you have one pair of the most critical eyes out there so I am not surprised that you came up with such wonderful picks. I really do think that Phillipines deserves to be there and I am still hoping that France pulls a surprise top 20. Sweden looks great too. I am hoping Jamaica makes it but after looking at her prelim videos... I have to confess that she was not in my top 20 but yuh know ah want the Caribbean girls to shine. Will Cayman Islands pull a surpise this evening?- I don't know but I totally enjoyed seeing her onstage.
Those picks that I would replace if this was my list: Finland, Indonesia and Belgium. I would replace them with Denmark, France (of course), and Brazil
Competition is stiff this year so as I said in an earlier post, I could probably pick another top 20 and be happy with my choices.
All in all, I think that we like most of the same delegates. Have a great evening and don't forget to tape the show.

I know that we both have her in our top 20, but she never sparked (in my opinion) since she arrived at the pageant. We all know she has the potential to go very far but her overall performance seemed lackluster as compared to her pre-pageant photos. Hopefull she made the cut and saved the best for last!

I never thought I would have ever seen an unconventional dark-skinned beauty from T&T crack the top 5 of Missosology's predictions list, especially one who was not trying to look "white," but God is really with Kenisha-Missosology has listed her as their pick for 3-runner-up at MU06. Thank you Kenisha, for showing the world that beauty can be unique, and does not have to come with light skin and big boobs. You really made them think outside the box!
Go with God for the finals! T&T is praying for your success at the MU pageant tonight! Love ya!

The link is below the hot picks tab but I just clicked on it and the page is down, but when I checked it this morning it did have Kenisha as 3rd runner up, with Mexico as the winner, Phillipines as 2nd runner up and Switzerland as 4th runner up. I can't remember the 1st runner up. No one on this website has time to lie about anything. This is an extremely well-moderated forum and any crap that is posted is removed and troblemakers are blocked. This is one of the most "mature" and level-headed forums on the internet so pleas don't be so non-chalant about saying someone is lying when you did not read the post correctly. Imagine this being a young girl and being told by her mother and father that an education is key and that is something that no one can ever take away from you.

Imagine this little girl growing into a teenager and thinking that being pretty and 'dumbing it up' for the boys is the right thing to do, and her mother pulling her up and saying that a man will always respect a strong, EDUCATED, independant woman.

Imagine this being a young woman and becoming friends with a woman who thinks that having a pretty face and a "big" booty is everything and you become confused because everything you have learned is set into a tail spin. But you meet a guy that says you know what sometimes your parents are right and a woman having knowledge is so much more sexy than the 'dumb, blonde stereotype'.

In 1998 when Wendy was crowned Miss Universe, Trump touted her victory as the new and improved Miss Universe - beauty with a purpose. Strong, educated but still beautiful women who will be ambassadors for the crown. Now listening to him in this interview it was a bunch of crock. He basically wants to crown the "best booty shacker with big howdie doodies". I feel like I am trapped in a real life "Girls Gone Wild video".

At first I was a little sad that Kenisha did not get chosen for the TV segments, now I am so happy because Trump portrayed these women as little more than call girls. The fact that he kept bringing up Miss Australia's nude pictures was disgusting. I am so ashamed for the 'dirty old man'.

What was the purpose of having the girls there and boasting about nude pics of Ms. Australia? The way the girls were presented made them look like nothing but cheap trash. I had to wonder if he was trying to make the MUdelegates into Playboy playmates. Disgusting! I wonder if the prelim judges are told who are his picks- that could be the end of a fair top 5 right there. I am really sorry for these delegates who had to appear with him-it was a very belittling experience, but obviously they can't complain. Why bother to buy MU when what you want to market are adult centerfolds?

I already posted it to several boards but for some reason I am unable to make posts to Missosology-some general message about "forum resource unavailable" keeps popping up. I posted it on some spanish-speaking boards but it would be wonderful if after this pageant, if someone who could speak Spanish did the Message subject and message content that we could copy and post on the Latin boards. Just a thought!

Miss Universe is here guys!!

The real standouts for me wid be:

TRINIDAD/TOBAGO - I think this girl won the prelims. She was flawless, im really impressed with this lady.

AUSTRAILIA - A natural beauty, fresh, classy, feminine, great overall.

MEXICO - Very good overall, she a stunner, very prepared. The only thing she got goin against her, she looks to much like the current MU. I doubt she'll win, top 10 for sure.

PUERTO RICO - Shes probably the most beautiful girl in this competition. Shes a lil over done at times, her body seem great and presentation skills. Well done.

INDIA - She turned up the volume. She wasnt an earlier favourite, she is very beautiful, her model looks and exotic features makes her standout. She in for me.

GHANA - Well Well. Am...what can i say about this girl. She stands out. Her skin is flawless, her body is GREAT. Her height worries me, 6ft 2?? Oh well we'll see her on Sun in the finals.

VENEZUELA - You guys have been too hard on this girl. She very fit, shes one of the sweetest delegates at that the show this year. Her gown isnt to modern, her face is great and she prepared. Well see more of her on Sunday.

CANADA - ALice came to win. No doubt. She tall, pretty, a lil skinny for me, Overall she ready. Not a winner for me. But well see.

PHILIPPINES - Now, I not seen a girl from this country that WOWed me since 2000. Nina. This girl is very pretty, Dont mind they got some crazy fans, They have a reason to go crazy this time around. I like this girl. Prefect smile, skin, she sweet lookin and very likeable.

USA - She sweet. I dont she that she 5ft 5in. I see shes stunning, great face, very photogenic. Her body is great. Not a winner though.

Watch out for St. Lucia, Jamaica, JApan, Poland, Colombia...

Guys this is from Tom's page of Miss Universe Mania. Tom is Canadian Missosologist that has been posting his predictions and comments about the actual results since 1997. In 1998 he correctly predicted that Wendy would win, this year he has Kenisha as the fourth runner - up. Anyways here is his list and comments:

Has it really come to this? I'm watching my first Miss Universe pageant live and sitting in the second row! It was a little closer to home so I decided to make the commute to Los Angeles for the pageant this year so I'm excited to see what will happen! Of course, updates will not be immediate after the pageant because I still have to fly home but this year's commentary will be interesting because it will be from an audience member's perspective! Having said that, it's time for my traditional predictions!

PRETHOUGHTS-MISS UNIVERSE 2006

Check out www.missuniverse.com for pictures. I didn't think too much about my picks this year because I'm content to let whatever happens to happen, especially since there could be a lot of surprises this year. In the meantime, here are some explanations for my picks:

Winner=Canada-Alice Panikian
I may be going out on a limb here seeing how Alice is representing my home country AND no country has ever won two years in a row BUT Alice is totally someone who could do it! She has a dynamic body, awesome gown, model moves. She's got the it factor aand she clearly seems to be a cut above the rest. Will it be the first back to back win and will Canada be the first country to do this???

1st runner up=Venezuela-Jictzad Vina
I'll be the first to admit that her body looks a bit thicker than I was expecting but I love Jictzad! When she won Miss Venezuela, I loved that she has a facial resemblance to Halle Berry and she's just so incredibly sweet so I want to see her do well.

2nd runner up=India-Neha Kapur
India's back with a vengeance and Neha worked it during prelims. She's quite "spicy" and lest we forget India won in 1994, then 6 years later in 2000 and here we are another 6 years later...and then there was Neha. Will she do it for the country which embodies unity through diversity?

3rd runner up=Ukraine-Inna Tsymbaliuk
Keep your eye on her. Ukraine was denied a spot in 2004 even though a lot of people including Donald Trump likely expected her to make it hence inviting her back to judge the next year...Now we come to Inna who is a striking beauty but is a little shall-we-say long-winded in her answers so I'm interested to see what happens with her.

4th runner up=Trinidad & Tobago-Kenisha Thom
Trinidad has been making it in recent years and Kenisha should certainly continue this tradition. She's sweet but she absolutely knows how to present herself. Her experience at Miss World 2004 certainly proves that.

FINALISTS

Philippines-Lia Andrea Ramos
Obviously, Miss Philippines consistenly has much support from her followers but I was quite pleased with Lia's performance. She seems poised to do well. It's quite surprising to think that Philippines hasn't made it since 1999 when Miriam Quiambao placed as 1st-runner-up.

Puerto Rico-Zuleyka Rivera
(Giggle) Puerto Rico has...(giggle)...given us...(giggle)...yet another well-prepared contestant and...(giggle)...she does the hair-toss...(giggle)...and she...(giggle), okay, I'll stop but you can't help but notice after watching her close-up, she's expected to end every answer with a cutesy giggle, reminiscent of Ruth Ocumarez, Miss Dominican Republic 2002. Zuleyka has another vocal support group so that should definitely help her in the competition in addition to her confident presentation.

Switzerland-Lauriane Gillieron
She has a nice, simple beauty and a lot of people seem to like her so she may do well.

Colombia-Valerie Dominguez Tarud
She was another heavy favorite in the beginning and she's certainly got the whole package so I'm expecting her to do quite well.

USA-Tara Conner
Crowd support should certainly help Tara and she looks pretty good in swimsuit and gown but she's not among the tallest contestants and that may work against her but we'll see what happens.

SEMIFINALISTS

Mexico-Priscila Perales
Another one with a very vocal support group that should carry her into the competition. She certainly knows how to pose.

Australia-Erin McNaught
A minor controversy of some harmless topless photos surfaced that thrust Erin in the spotlight. A similar controversy surrounded Puerto Rico's Joyce Giraud in 1998 and Spain's Helen Lindes in 2000. Erin is just okay to me this year but I more-or-less included her because a lot of other people are buzzing about her.

Ireland-Melanie Boreham
A very sweet, simple, serene beauty that has the potential to sneak right up there so I wonder if a little Irish luck could steer Melanie towards stardom?

St. Lucia-Sascha Andrew-Rose
I happen to think she's quite pretty even though I wish she had picked a different gown for prelims so I'm giving her this spot for the recognition.

Sri Lanka-Jacqueline Fernandez
She seems well groomed and ready to deliver a good performance. This is another one that others are talking about.

Greece-Olympia Hopsonidou
It's all about the gown with this one. I'm a sucker for the liquid silver look but Olympia carries quite well and has a bit of an Angelina Jolie look going on.

Ghana-Angela Asare
She had some early buzz but it seems to have fizzled over time but her performance was decent.

Kazakhstan-Dina Nuraliyeva
She could be Kazakhstan's first semifinalist. She seems well prepared and could do quite well.

Brazil-Rafeala Zanella
Nice body and gown but could use a little more presence somehow but overall she's quite decent.

Dominican Republic-Mia Taveras
She's also well prepared and I like her red gown so let's see what happens with her.

ALTERNATES:

Iceland-Sif Aradottir
She has a look reminiscent of Latvia's representative from last year but her body isn't quite as toned as I think it could be particularly in the stomach region.

New Zealand-Elizabeth Gray
There were quite a few pictures of her in the press so that may mean something and her performance seems to have been decent so she could make it.

Peru-Fiorella Vinas
She is quite the poser and has a nice body and gown so she could make it.

Thailand-Charm Onwarin Osathanond
The pageant is partly sponsored by Thai-owned Singha Beer and Miss Universe 1988, Porntip Nakhirunakok who represented Thailand was a preliminary judge. Hmmmm...

Uruguay-Fatimih Davila
People were talking about this one too, particularly how she looks quite good in a one-piece swimsuit. Uruguay tends to fizzle for whatever reason butmaybe Fatimih could do a comeback.

So there you have it. Those are my predictions this year. Some other countries I wanted to mention are Israel and Lebanon because of the war situation going on there so if either of them make it, it may not be a politically wise move but I don't really think either of them will make it anyway, although I've been wrong about Israel before. Singapore had a very interesting gown...if you could call it a gown. Spain and Bolivia have also been talked about quite a bit but I don't quite see it. Also, I wonder about China and South Africa and Ethiopia but I've made my list so let's find out what happens on July 23!

Our Dear Supporters,

As a team we are all very grateful for the support given on this forum and are especially thankful to the moderator John who has been uploading loads of pictures sent to him from Peter and has done a fantastic job of keeping everyone informed of the team's progress with Kenisha. Kenisha herself has been very grateful for all the support given, she feels that love and energy, it keeps her going and she uses it as a fuel on stage. She channels that love and lets it beam from her on stage. That is why she feels and looks soo beautiful on stage. SHE FEELS LIKE IT IS ALL OF US ON STAGE WITH HER. So when you feel proud of her, feel proud of yourselves because you are right up there with her.

Sunday night marks 29 years exactly since our Penny (Janelle) became the 1st Black woman to be crowned Miss Universe and this Sunday Kenisha makes that same journey to the crown. Another Trini beauty who will attempt to redefine the world's concept of beauty. Regardless of Sunday's outcome, this we do know. Kenisha gave it her all and she gave it her best and for this reason we are grateful to her. She has been the perfect delegate. We are all truly proud of her and very grateful to have worked with her.

Ultimately, Kenisha is ready for Sunday night she will receive some last minute advice from Peter, Allyson and Bobby Ackbarali. (Bobby has been her pageant angel and has been calling her everyday to give her advice and to take her through her day and helps her to focus). As a team we are truly blessed to have a wonderful and remarkeable presence like Bobby. He really is able to help the girls believe in themselves and share their joy with the world. Kenisha, he says, has been his absolute best pupil. We are also very grateful for all of the preliminary work done by Linhurst Cole and his team, he took care of her after her CCN experience, kept her motivated and then brought her to us and we will forever be grateful for his unconditional love and support to her. There are so many more people that we must thank. Stevenson Dillon (her personal trainer), Gerard Alfonso and the team at Long Circular Health Club, Maggie for your advice to her, Yvonne for your make up lessons, Mary for the dance training, Sacha Costmetics for the constant support, Bally for the hair style training, Meiling, Micheal Ragonanan for Envogue designs, he did the wonderful yellow creation she wore to the Mexican dinner, Sally Roshford, Marguarette Gordon, TDC, CNMG, Gayelle, Advance Dynamics, Sandra Hordatt, Janielle Mcarthy Sininan, Dominic Kalipersad, Dale Enoch, Giselle La Ronde West, Donna Cox of NFM, BMOBILE, Calvin French ( we love you Frenchie), her coworkers at WASA, her family and team of personal supporters.

OUR GIRL HAS DONE US PROUD

Finally I also want to make an appeal to the regular contributors of this board, we are continuing the work even as Kenisha is in LA with Tineke, to get her ready for Miss World, she will be doing a Caribbean Folk Ballet for her talent at Miss World and will also be working to do really well in the Physical Fitness challenges, as well as the beach beauty competitions but as well all know that she will need our support to canvas enough votes to get her into the top 15, we have already gotten support from the TDC to market her via their channels but we need the support of the fans, Please help to market our girl we will supply some very strong images of her, please send to your friends and family abroad and convince them to vote for our girl. WE ARE COUNTING ON YOU GUYS TO REALLY HELP US OUT WITH THIS ONE. Tineke is working hard and is a beautiful person and will make a great Miss World but we need to get her into the 15. (John, C, Trin 77, QO,Maximus-I do hope you will be reopening Trini Isles of beauty,LL and the rest please help us, you are the true fans who understand the process) Yes we do read the forums (LOL), sometimes we even make a comment of two (wink wink)

Oh and of cource let me give you some feedback from the interview. I have been told that the interview went very very well and that she felt relaxed and comfortable and enjoyed her interview. She impressed. She was able to engage the panel and actually had a conversation with them rather than just simply answering questions. That is what I wanted and that is what she was able to do. So she impressed in three areas. Interesting to note, her roommate Tara Miss USa spent sometime singing her praises during her interview with the judges, so it seems that Tara would like Kenisha to continue to be her roommate. I am sure all of us here would like that too.

Regards

Adrian Robert Raymond.

Adrian, all of your loyal supporters cannot express in words how thankful we are of you, Peter and the rest of the team. You all make us proud every day! I recently got a tatoo of the TnT flag on my arm (as a band). I cannot tell you the amount of people that stop me, recognize the flag and comment on our success in beauty pageants (all because of the team). I always hear stories of Wendy and feel quite proud. It is amazing how they equate our flag with our success in pageants.

Regardless of what happens this Sunday, Kenisha sounds like she has been one of the most amazing Miss TnT's (both World and Universe). I have heard so many stories of her grace, care, kindness and beauty. You all could not have picked a more incredible person to represent our amazing country and it's people.

Again, thanks, my words can not even express. God Bless!

Adrian thank you for the update!!!!! Kenisha continues to prove to the world that beauty comes in very unexpected and expected places. What a great honor it would be that 29 years later Kenisha where to capture the crown. How ironic that Penny's win broke down barriers and I believe that kenisha's will as well as there are still people out there that think black is not beautiful.

Please say a hearty Thank you to Peter, Allyson and all others that have helped Kenisha to be all that she could be. As for Miss World and Tineke you do not have to worry on my part about garnering support. Tineke is a Providence alum and so am I, I will fight hard to make sure she gets those votes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Please tell Kenisha that everyone here loves her and supports her and give her a big hug and kiss from all of us!!! Thank you so much Kenisha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Trinidad and Tobago
2. Canada, Australia (tie)
4. Puerto Rico (needs to act like a sensible adult though), Brazil (tie)
6. Columbia
7.Switzerland
8. China
9. Japan
10. Mexico
11. Denmark
12. Serbia and Montenegro
13. Ukraine
14. Spain
15.India
16.USA
17. Venezuela
18. Thailand
19. Cayman Islands
20. Ghana

Is this list realistic-well I suspect the judges will not be willing to place Venezuela and USA out of the top 10 and Venezuela would probably be top 5. Additionally, I think Denmark is top 10 material.
This list was very difficult to comple and the competition is so stiff this year that I could compile another list of 20 delegates and still be satisfied witht he quality.

Others I like:
-Jamaica (something was off in ss presentation but this girl is beautiful; would not mind seeing her in the top 10 at all)
-St. Lucia (not the smartest gown choice but she is a beauty!)
- DR (top 20-yes, top 10...I don't think so but anyone could shine during the finals so who really knows)
- Bolivia (I don't like how she acts-and I am not talking about what has been said about her- it is what I have seen in pics and videos-she keeps making poses to try to imitate Amelia Vega and keeps flipping her hair like she is a bit well... wonder what Amelia Vega will think when she has to judge her-yes, I believe MUO will place her in the top 20 for ratings. This is a Hollywood production-there is no such thing as bad publicity. I don't think she is top 5 material at all but it is obviously up to the judges. She is beautiful though.)
- Phillipines along with France were both pleasant surprises- I genuinely hope they do make it to the final 20-they really look like nice young ladies who have got their head on straight and looked like they were there to compete but also have fun. Loved France's costume presentation! (These are going to be 2 girls I will definitely be rooting for along with MT&T and any Caribbean reps. who crack the top 20)
-Angola- what a fantastic body!
-Northern Marinas looked great also but I am not too sure if she is competitive to make the cut-it is up to what the judges and MUO wants but she was just beautiful so I had to mention her.
O.K. I am probably leaving out 15 other fantastic young ladies but this post is getting a bit too long. Have a great day everyone!

Kenisha promises, ‘I’ll do my best’

KENISHA THOM, 22, Miss Trinidad and Tobago at this year’s Miss Universe pageant to be held in Los Angeles on Sunday, promised her supporters through a long distance interview with Newsday yesterday, that she is going to do her best at the pageant.

Asked how she felt about Sunday’s finals, Thom said: “I feel very prepared. I’ve left it in God’s hands. Sometimes you want something so bad, but whatever God decides, would be best for me. I am going to do my best.”

Thom said she’s been “going good” so far and she has been receiving a lot of support from many in Los Angeles. “The most important thing is to remain calm and that is what I’m trying to do, although I wasn’t calm last night at the costume competition...but it still went good for me, the crowd response was good,” Thom said.

For the costume competition on Tuesday, Thom wore a butterfly costume designed by Sandra Hordatt. The results of that segment of the contest will be announced on Sunday night. Thom, who is an Accounting Technician, is inspired to follow in the footsteps of Penny Commissiong (Miss Universe 1977) and Wendy Fitzwilliam (Miss Universe 1998).

In Los Angeles, she has the support of her parents Gregory and Sinita Thom, brother Keilon, and Thom’s significant other Cory Selvon.

Thom was high in praise for local pageant franchise holder Peter Elias and his team for the work they did to get her to the competition level.

Judges for the finals are Miss Universe 2003 Amelia Vega, legendary actress Bo Derek, Miss USA 1997 finalist Claudia Jordan, ex-Dallas Cowboys football star Emmitt Smith, actor James Lesure, journalist Maria Celeste Arraras, fashion photographer Patrick McMullan, Santino Rice and The Apprentice television series winner Sean Yazbeck. Sunday’s Finals is scheduled to start at 9 pm (TT time).
