Other caribbean countries are taking advantage of the fact that the Miss Universe pageant is being held in the caribbean this year. They all know they have a good chance of doing well or some of them placing for the firs time or the first time in many years. Trinidad and Tobago is probably the only caribbean country to apart from Puerto Rico and to a lesser extent Dominican Republic to have done extremely well at Miss Universe and Miss World. If T&T is not represented it will be a major blow for future representation. How sad to see countries who do not have to resources that T&T has are able to send someone to represent their country year after year. T&T with all its riches should be showcased every year at the pageants.

How can the government not want to consistantly sponsor these great ambassadors of their country?. I could understand wanting the private sector to help but if they are unwilling to help then I do believe the government should step up and do what is necessary to send a representitive to Miss Universe and Miss World.

I truly admire the franchise holder before Peter Elias. Kim S. always seem to be able to send someone to represent the country for many years up until her death.

I was hoping that Peter Elias would of held on to the franchises. I am sure that he could of find some sort of sponsorship. Just like Kim S. did it I believe he could of done it to. He may not be able to do all the training of the delegates he would like but at the least T&T would be repsented each year. Kim S. may not have been able to train the girls as Peter have done for the past five years or so. But, she did do her best and managed to place at Miss Universe many times and even won the Miss Universe title as well. I can undrstand Peter wanting the government to do their part. But, it is clear that the government has no interest in the promotion of T&T in such a manner. They will be quick to praise the delegate when she has done well but slow to offer assistance to help achieve success. That is a sad reality. Its a fact that government has never done anything consistantly to help these ladies reach the successes they have had.

It is shameful to that no one step in to take over the francise after Peter gaved it up. So many companies etc. can do this, yet we have not had anyone willing to.

To Peter Elias, if you are reading this. Please consider taking up the franchise again. You seem to be the only person with real passion to promote T&T in such a manner. Take adavantage of this oppetunity of the Miss Universe pageant being in the caribbean again. I am sure the Miss Universe org. wanted Trinidad and Tobago to be there. Try to hold on to at least one of the franchises, either Miss World or Miss Universe. There are many people who support you and are very grateful for what you have done for the country. Let Miss T&T shine on the international stage again.

Valene is absolutely beautiful she can be hand picked to go to the bahamas now. She dont need alot of preparation.She can bring home the crown for T&T again. Gabrielle Walcott would of been another great contender but she is not interested in going this year. She stated she did not have enough time to be prepared enough. Although I personally dont think she needs alot of training.

She do not need alot of preparation. As you stated she is in good shape and looks great. All she needs to do is leanr about the bahamas like its history ect. if she does not know already. In regards to her look. She dont need to do much at all. She will be a great representitive.
