My fellow Trinis,

Thank you for all the words of support that came in on this board and those who sent texts and called to still congratulate the team on a job that was well done. We will have to re-group and take a very critical look at the competition this year, with a view towards improving our performance next year.

I urge you all not to be critical of Anya, she was lovely and she worked hard and represented us well. Already I am seeing people starting to turn, and that really dissappoints me. I understand that everyone is dissappointed and feels the need to be "REAL" in their review but we must understand that last year the top 10 was very diverse in looks, sizes, height everything. This year their seemed to be a uniformity of the look etc. especially when it came to the ten and particularly the top 5.

Anya was a magnificant representative and was a favourite in Vietnam and with the international media because of her exotic looks and intellect. So I ask you as a favour to me not to bash her in your evaluation. Lets rather look carefully at how this year's pageant played out and ask ourselves, what do we need to do to ensure placement next year. What did the Miss Universe org. want this year, why was the top 10 composition so radically different from last years. This year seemed to be "text book or shall we say classic Miss Universe" but last year was diverse two Africans, (one who was bald), two Asians, a short curvey girl ( Mexico last year was a curveous as Jessica Rabbit), Miss India was in the 10 as well. A very diverse top 10 last year and this year not so much. Look at the final scoring and see if you see a pattern especially from the transition from 15 to 10.

Basically it boils down to the judges and their preferences, even stage performances seemed a little bit standard, lots of twirling, lots of hair flicks. Last year the women had their own style.

My people, this bump will motivate us to work harder and to do better. We want you all to have a celebration and we will continue to do give our very best to ensure that our flag will fly high throughout the night of these pageants. We focus now on Miss World and regroup to have a stong Miss Universe 2009. Thank you Anya for a wonderful representation and to all our supporters for your unconditional encouragement.

...we had the right girl and she did a splendid job overall. I have no regrets that we sent the right lady and I am still very proud of our georgeous Anya. There was really no range of beauty in the top 15-only light skinned black women made it, everyone looked tall and I saw no catwalk divas (but Columbia and Venezuela [if you don't look at her eyes] were good).

Text book beauty made it to the final 5-with Trump at the helm will we ever see another Wendy or Kenisha Thom?

P.S. Adrian I hope you all throw Anya a great welcome home party because the girl did do our country proud-she was a phenomenal rep-if this was last year's pageant she would have made it.

Not fantastic. I have been very positive toward Anya but we have to be realistic sometimes. She just was not as good and alot of girls there. There are so many things we can point out in Anya that didnt fit the mold entirely. How can you compare last year with this year? Even if we want to go down that rout, why not copy 2006 or 2007 and chose someone who looked like the top 5 or Kenisha?. I dont remember any short delegates making the top 5 for a long time with the exception of USA(which is expected).

Thanks for the post Adrian, and I really hope you guys regroup and see where you all went wrong. But, I think its clear what needs to be done. I think you guys were also over analysing what the MUO was looking for to the point of missing the key element. Anywa, lets see what happens at MW. As I said Garielle is definitely more beautiful. Maybe she can place.

I think Anya did a good job the problem is she was not fierce enough at times she look liked she did not put enough effort in competing in some videos shelook like she was acting not being herself she had the face, body but not the attitude i believe it has politics in it Russia,DR spain one of them stole anya spot i believe they already know who they wants for miss universe before the finals it amazes me how venezuela gets in every time can we all say trump picks venezuela every year himself anyway congrats to anya

...for the next slate of MT&T finalists when they are chosen so we can really make a more informed decision as who are the real competitors. I hope we crown the new MT&TU this year...and yes we are looking for someone tall.

Anya represented us with style and grace. I am proud of her even though she did not place in the semi finals. but think about it guys there were so many girls who competed this year and we did not see one picture outside of the scheduled photoshoots. I am confident that Anya did well and did her best. And yes comments like that can certainly deter one's desire to represent the country, constructive or not, for the girls its personal because it is about them. i'm sure that the staff of the pageant company recognized the glitches and will have them fixed. we just need to get back or rymthm. we will
