Hey guys, I know that there have been calls to move on but I just wanted to give my two cents.

First of all Miss Universe has turned into a politics, highest bidder game. As sweet and as lovely as she is Miss Vietnam - if her country was not hosting and paid Trump $20,000,000 would have been no where near the top 15.

Secondly did we forget that judge Roberto Cavalli is Italian, Miss Itlay????? Miss Japan whilst fahionable could not hold a candle to Anya. I could go on and on but the biggest issue is that we need to start thinking what would give us the biggest impact at Miss Universe.

Trump knows that he has hit a gold mine since Telemundo merged with NBC. For those who do not know Telemundo is the largest Spanish speaking tv channel in America. And who is more pageant crazy than the Latin Americans???? Do not expect them out of the top 5 anytime soon.

We need to be more concious of our delegates and approach Miss Universe as a marathon not a sprint. Look at when Miss Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico etc are crowned. The year b 4 the pageant.

I am not saying the TnT delegates have to copycat the Latinas but I do think that we need to review our position and make some necessary changes in order to become more competitive.

We made these adjustments in 2003 focusing on proper styling and elegance. Now we need to focus on the girls catwalk b cause let's face it Miss Universe is now more about who wears what and who can work the runway. Let us not forget that Trump does own a modelling agency.

I would also like if Peter and Company would liason more with the fans, B cause sometimes we might be able to helping in spotting something our a potential delegate that they have missed.

Just my opinions guys love you all!!!! Trini77 I do remember back in the day when we used to b the only ones along with a few others (PC, Miles, mAXIMUS, and Fay (remember her). Thanks 4 the memories!!!!!!!!

Guyl yuh remember more than me yes- I eh even dream it had a poster named Fay on the forum. I remember you and Maximus as the stalwarts and then Miles joined us.

I totally agree with you that they should really get a few real fans to just have a look at stuff like the gown and walk because we sometimes see things or at least question stuff that they might think is right or the best because they have the expertise (and they do) but we cannot afford to make mistakes. We need to literally be like just inside the top 5 in preliminaries overall to make sure we are not bumped from the the top 15 for Trump's picks.

In my opinion we have had a few (not many) delegates at the local competition who had slammin' bodies or at least looked good enough to make it (o.k. only 3 come to mind-sexy Anya, one girl from the same area Anya Maharaj was from at the 2003 pageant and to a lesser extent Gabby). I have always thought height does not matter if we have the right girl. However, after this years international event, I have to say that the only people who don't have to worry about the height factor are the pageant outfits who crown only tall ladies. Osmel does not permit anyone under 5'7" to enter even if she is a quarter inch shorter (and has a slammin' physique), and in large part most of their reps seem to be 5'9" or taller (the last "short" MV I can recall at this time was the one who won MU about 11 years ago who was 5'7" I believe).

Additionally, I really think that there should be 2 screenings. I believe women should be given the opportunity to send in photos and an application for the pageant for one day of screenings and then a 2nd day of screenings which is open to the general public for all those who decided last minute to enter.

I know we are a small country and people like to cry favoritism for everything but I really think that Peter and Calvin (along with the other members of the panel) need to find one lady who is really strong to enter the pageant. They need to do personally invites. I know Peter has done it b/4- I remember Arlene Peterkin (4th at MU1995) saying that she did not want to enter and Peter was the one who convinced her to enter. The thing is we can't afford to be making invites when we happen to see a strong lady every 2 or 3 years-they really need to aggressively look for one each year. This thing is about promoting Trinidad and Tobago foremost and we should have the best-forget all the small minded people out there who like to fight for everything and complain constantly. It is brand Trinidad and Tobago we are trying to market.

I also think that when they announce the finalists they should also give one measurement-the height. Forget about the other measurements (waist, etc) because Auntie Kim and the CCN pageant tried that nonsense and crowned the ladies with the best measurements and they had no chance of even making it to the semis of MU just by looking at them when the were at least one other lady at each pageant who could realistically make it at the international level (ex. MT&TU1999- the 2nd runner up should have won, and MT&T2002- I forget her name but she was a 5'11" model and she should have won but did not even make top 3).

In my opinion, we don't even need to crown the one with the best answer on final night-for me the local final Q&A segment should be 90% who has confidence, 10% intelligence/content since the judges would have already met for the prelims with each lady and figured out if she know how to use her brains properly. I still remember the 1998 event when the indian girl who won Miss Photogenic (and who should have been sent to MW) gave her final answer-I was laughing at home and when the cameras switched to the judges and crowd only Arlene Peterkin was laughing too. We got what she was saying and her wit but these professionals decided to send a lady who I knew was not going to make it at all to MW instead. I don't ever want to see that nonsense again. I hope they merge both SS and gown scores with the Q&A scores to crown their winners.

We can't afford to muck anything up otherwise we are out.
