Author: Maeko and Mele
Subject: Forced smile...
In reply to: Zaniel 's message, "She sighs" on 20:11:42 04/09/02 Tue

She got the first real taste of the tension she had carefully avoided for the entire time, and it left her stomach knotted in an icy ball. She stubbornly refuses to let any of her terror show through to her face, the only sign of it the suddenly blank look in her emerald eyes, and the tight line of her previously smiling mouth. For Zaniel's benefit, she forces a tight smile onto her face. "Aye, I know what you mean. I'm practically shaking!" She holds up one trembling hand to make her point. After a moment of thought, probably fighting off fear that threatened to envelop her. "Anyway, if you bond with little Beauty here," She fondly rubs one ear of the chirr that had stolen her heart as easily as one of the toys she loved so. "And I don't, then I won't mind. After all, you deserve to Bond just as much, if not more, than I do!" While she does not close her eyes as Zaniel does, they assume a vacant look, for she looking inside herself more than out. "Three people. Three people without chirrs." She murmurs more to herself than Zaniel. Her gaze flickers to her twin, sitting much as she had left her, still with her eyes fixated on the firstborn chirr. Mele had a slightly tight aura, and Maeko could tell she was having just as much trouble with fear as she was, although anyone who did not know her sister as well as Maeko did would probably not be able to differentiate the frightened Mele from the calm girl she had been just a few moments before. "Hey, Zaniel. I'll be back in just a moment, all right? I have to talk to Mele." She made her way across the Den, carriage more stately and dignified than the madcap girl she had been a moment before, dashing around and tripping over herself in her haste. For a moment she simply stands by Mele's side, words unneeded. Finally Mele lifts her head, meets Maeko's gaze and, never breaking eye contact, stands. At the same second they reach for each other's hand, and break into nervous laughter, clutching each other like drowning ones rescued. "You know we won't be sisters any more if we Bond." Mele breathes into her twin's ear, meant for Maeko only to hear. Maeko's dark panther-ear twitches slightly, and the tip of Mele's black tail lashes from side to side, both feeling the tension in each other, and it seems to multiply between them, so they tactically part from their embrace (Don't get any ideas here, just a sisterly hug, you know.), but desperately clutch each other's clawed hand. Maeko bobs her dark head in acknowledgement, and they stand together for a moment, taking comfort in each other's presence, before they proclaim in unison, "I will always be your sister!" With a parting smile, slightly timid on Maeko's side, and brilliant from Mele, Maeko departs, back to Zaniel and the chirr. "Good luck, and be brave, Maeko." Mele's whisper does not escape her sister's keen hearing, and a flicker of her feline ears reassures Mele.

She greets Zaniel again with a much easier smile, most of her fears reduced to nothing. "I'm back!" She announces with a dramatic flourishing bow. Her broad grin is genuine now, and she seats herself by the red-gold chirr, stating, "A little chat with Mele can solve many things for me. I'm not so scared any more. If I Bond, I'm one of those incredibly lucky seven, if not, this day will stay in my heart forever. I can always try again to Bond, even if it won't be quite the same." She fondly twines her fingers in the think golden-russet fur of the young creature beside her, wondering if her luck would ever be great enough to earn the absolute trust and love of a Niyia chirr. Time would tell!

((OOC: Heh, I was as frightened as Maeko at the beginning of this! Just had to add some twin time, sorry. It’s quite therapeutic, really. I get just as worked up as my characters some times…))
