Changing operating systems or disabling power management addresses the SYMPTOMS, but not the CAUSE, of the shutdown syndrome. One of the things power management accomplishes is to throttle the CPU when you're running on battery power. If you turn off the throttling, the unit will only run about 1/4 as long on battery.

We replace components on the processor daughter board, with no impact whatever on the software. All the good battery-saving code works as designed.
