Dale Luffman, Becky Savage, and Gail Mengel are the three mostly responsible for communicating with the National Council of Churches.

In the MERC report, (The Membership and Ecclesial Relations Committee)

http://www.ncccusa.org/witnesses2010/ga-merc-report-community-of-christ.pdf

the name "Joseph" is mentioned two time, by a Catholic man. He assures everyone that they won't have to be worrying about that pesky Joseph Smith Jr. He then assures us that Joseph Smith III is the founder of the church which they are accepting into the National Council of Churches.

Any more mentions of Joseph? Only a passing reference to a teenager seeking God in prayer in the early 1800s. How clever.

I think the Community of Christ leadership has a true stake in convincing everyone that Joseph Smith Jr. was a bad, bad man. If he was guilty of polygamy, why, homosexuality is A.O.K., right? And every other form of adultery.

As I have pointed out in another thread, most of the Community of Christ leadership approves of homosexuality. And so they self righteously point the finger at an innocent man.

Lois

They wish there was no solution for sin. They will find out that they were sadly mistaken.

PAPER #3, First Presidency Meetings (Community of Christ), January 9, 1979, 1:45 p.m.
THE IDENTITY OF THE CHURCH
Page 2

The message of the gospel is concerned with the deepest human needs. It offers no solutions for the problem of collective evil, the question of death, nor even a solution for sin. The gospel is the assurance that all is changed in Christ.
