'I trust too easily'. The words echo in her mind, bringing back a particularly painful memory. She blocks it, but not before her eyes are darkened by it. "I can't make you trust me." she says softly, releasing his hand, slowly.
Stupid stupid stupid! she creams inwardly at herself. "It was nice meeting you, Adam." she turns to walk away, her head bowed to hide tears from curious passers by.
