The space battle ships Dr. Doppler had siezed from Repliforce were engaged with Dr. Wily's forces on the moon. One of them, the command ship where Bit, and Byte were controlling the battle broke away from the conflict on a course toward Earth.
Meanwhile, on Earth, Vile had prepped a squad of Mech soldiers. The custom battle mechs that Razor Mantis had created were now operational, and were being dispersed. Vile had carried out a successful ambush to the Hunter forces, sending in teams of sperior numbers to capture and execute the invading Hunter force. It only took them a few minutes to reach all of the areas that X's teams had tried to sabotage. The Hunters fought bravely, but they could not compete against the savagery of Doppler's Mechs. The survivors had been taken to the submarine bay, and were heavilly gaurded by Doppler's goons. Of the 30 who had infiltrated the base, twenty-two of them had been destroyed. Some died in the fire fight with Doppler's army, the rest of them had been executed. Mega Man X, and IO had not been captured yet, so that meant there were only six remaining from his original group. These had been tied up by the gaurds. Vile ordered them to be dangled over the open water of the submarine bay. The dock workers had used a crane hook to raise each of them up. They had been suspended by their hands with a weight tied around their ankles. It was then that they reallized the horrible truth.
"I'll let you live as long as you can.",Vile told them, "Only...know this: the weights we've tied around your legs are not just ordinary weights. They're pressure mines. If you fall from here, you'll sink like a stone into the water below. The further down you go, the greater the pressure wil be against your bodies. Even though you might be able to withstand it, the mines outter shell cannot. It will crack like an eggshell. When that happens, it will detonate, sending you to meet your maker!"
The six helpless Hunters cursed Vile from their high place over the water. "Mega Man X will come for us! You're not going tog et away with this!" One of them said.
"Oh, X will come here. I know!" Vile laughed. "I'm...counting on it!""
