Sonic Blade pushed Zero aside. "No, let me go first." Before Zero had a choice, he leaped into the teleporter, and disappeared in a blue flash. The teleporter beckoned to Zero silently, ominously. Zero stepped on. The energy swirled around his body, and burned a bright red. Suddenly, he felt a rush, and vanished in a flash of light!
When he came to, he was in a dark corridor, and Sonic Blade was no where to be found! He tried to call to him, but there was no answer. That's when it dawned on him. The teleporter...it seperated them. Who knows where Sonic blade went to? He was on his own, and he had to find out who was leading him, and where he was being led to! The dark corridor seemed to snap to life, as if awakened by his presence. Standing before him was Sigma. Four Sigmas, actually. On the Left, Sigma as he had first been. His green Armor, and flowing cape. His loyal hound Velgaurder stood, unmoving at his feet. Next to them, Sigma appeared as he did when he tried to copy Zero. His armor was golden, and he bore sharp razor-claws. To the right, he appeared in his blue armor, with his shield, and next to that one, the most fearsome form of all...the reaper. Zero immediately drew his sword to bear, but none of them moved. Statues? Were they monuments to Sigma's past forms? Zero eyed them suspiciously, fearing that they would spring to life at any moment, but nothing happened. Suddenly, a voice came over the intercom. "So, there you are! I've been waiting for you! Come inside...I've been dying to meet you!"
"Sigma!?", Zero shouted. He dahsed through the open door to find....darkness! another dark room. These surprises were getting annoying. "Show yourself!", Zero demanded.
The door behind him closed. The room he was in felt cold, and was very cavernous. It was then, that Zero saw he was in a cave of some sort. Lights blinked on, and Zero could see that he was in some kind of warehouse facility.
The ground rumbled beneath his feet. He leapt forward, to roll out of the way, just in time...something came up out of the ground behind him! "Hah ha ha ha!"
"Who are you?", Zero demanded.
"I am not Sigma, if that is who you are looking for. My name is Crescent Grizzly, but you can call me 'Slash' if you like!" Zero was confused. "What the hell! Who are you?"
"Well, well...Zero is it really you? The leader of the famous Maverick hunters? I've been given special orders by an old friend of yours. He can't be here today, so I'm taking his place!"
"Sigma?", Zero asked. "No, not him...he was dead, last time I checked. I was talking about Dr. Doppler. He's ordered me to destroy you, although I have no idea why. I'm just a weapon's broker. But, I wanted to see how tough you are. I figured I could lead you here, and I see you have followed my path perfectly!",Slash laughed.
"Where is my friend?", Zero asked. "Oh, don't worry, he'll be fine. Besides, he was not needed. I was told only to fight you. That is why you are here, and that is why I have spared your life until now."
"You did all this, just so you could fight me?"
"Yes."
"But, why?"
"I already told you why. None of that matters now anyway. Dr. Doppler is going to destroy everyone here. One blast from the Enigma, and this place will be just another empty crater, on this dead rock."
"The Enigma!"
Slash Grizzly laughed. "Let me show you something interesting!" ,He said. In his hands, he produced a small data pad, which he handed to Zero. Zero looked at the screen. There, before him, he saw Mega Man X. "He's being held by Doppler. Doppler told me to tell you this. If you make it out of here alive, you will still have to fight him." Zero looked at Grizzly square in the eye. "If you make it out of here alive, you will have to report your failure.
Doppler does not take well to failure."
"Enough talk. It has come to pass!", Grizzly sneered.
Zero took his fight stance. "Come, and get it...big boy!"
