Subject: The Clooney factor

You make an interesting comparison with George Clooney. He too was a star who was trying to edge out of a role whose success was the very thing which both held him there and made him want to break out to be even more successful in 'Big Movies'. It worked out for Clooney spectacularly but we still have to see if it is does for DD.

I don't think, whatever the plot device they would have used, that the viewers could truly accept a Mulder-less XF. He was so much the heart and soul of the piece. I can't blame storyliners at the end of the day because they were forced to work with both DD's absence *and* GA's presence. Her contract was longer than DD's so she really had little choice but to stay - even if her role became less and less relevant. I got tired of seeing Scully at Quantico in a reduced role and just coming in to do autopsies and to reassure Doggett all the time. It was like GA was pregnant all over again, but this time it was Scully who was pregnant!

I too really thought Doggett was a good character. I feel sorry for Robert Patrick, in a way, that such a big opportunity for him, was a two season flash-in-the-pan in the end. All credit to him for giving it his all and making Doggett a convincing character.

Krycek cheating on Mulder? Come on, in your heart of hearts, you know that would never happen.... ;-)
