I guess I never got the feeling of any UST between Scully and Doggett. The impression I had throughout the season was that Doggett was feeling protective of Scully. He had lost his son and was no longer with his wife. I don't think he was interested romantically, rather I felt he was trying to make up for loosing his family in a protective sort of way. It was like he was trying to keep Mulder's family intact and safe for Mulder, when he could finally return. I think he always knew that Scully's heart was for Mulder. I also don't think he could understand how Mulder could leave his family even though he knew it probably had to be done for reasons he wasn't to fully know.

Does that make sense?

S9 gave Doggett and Reyes a chance to develop a relationship. They both were what I would call "lost souls" in the romance department. Both needed someone to lean on and their relationship was just starting to really develop when the show was ended.

I know that a lot of fans didn't care for S8 and 9 but I did. True it was empty and different without Mulder, but then again, it had the opportunity to continue with the stories.
