I can see him doing a cameo appearance in the last ep of season nine *IF* he knows, absolutely and for sure, that it's actually the final episode of "The X-Files" as a TV show. He was in at the beginning, I can see him wanting to be in at the end. Also, the one thing he has been adamant about ever since midway through season seven is that he *does* want to be in any future XF movies and he might see a Mulder cameo in the final ep of XF as a TV show as a bridge to playing the character again on the big screen.
Anybody who's already seen the final ep of season eight might want to check out my "Mulder Musings" post on the season eight board for more of my opinion on this subject.
