The one thing that goes against the bias of actors getting older- which, I don't think people in their 30s are all that old, especially considering I fall into that category myself- we do have the sci-fi/Star Trek advantage. It was nearly 10 years after the original series went off the air that their first movie came out. And while I'll be the first to say that Star Trek The Motion Picture wasn't one of their best (my favorite was #4, "The Voyage Home"), I will say that it used all of the original cast, who, were most likely in their 40s, 50s and beyond. Maybe us sci-fi fans are just more loyal, or we're just smart enough to realize that a person doesn't lose their appeal or importance in life just because they're past a certain age, but I doubt anyone would care if Mulder and Scully are a bit older- after all, we fans are older, too. I do think we would care, and vehemently hate any casting changes or replacements. That would be HORRENDOUS and in my opinion, completely UNFORGIVABLE. Now I know that Chris Carter doesn't seem to be motivated, for the most part, by fan approval, but from what I've heard, he at least had a decent relationship with the actors who portrayed his 2 lovely characters. Isn't he Anderson's daughter's godfather or something? I can't believe he would just toss them aside in favor of younger actors. Of course, 20th Century Fox might be stupid enough to put pressure on him to do something like that- I read that they originally wanted some bimboesque woman to play our beloved Scully- but he adamantly refused and insisted that Gillian Anderson play Scully. And gee, didn't that same little redhead go and win an Emmy and countless other awards for her portrayal? I doubt Pamela Anderson- or some like minded person- would have brought the show as many accolades. So, hopefully, 20th Century Fox will remember that Mr. Carter has good taste in actors and not fight him on using Duchovny or Anderson in his films again.

Anyway, just my humble opinion. Does it mean much? Maybe not, but I have a feeling that a lot of people might agree with me.
