I think you are right. S9 seemed to be sort of disjointed. By that I mean a little of this and a little of that. I cried when she gave up William, had hope we would see him again after watching his trick with the mobile, and still wonder a little on where the super soldiers REALLY came from. I don't own 8 and 9--yet so there are a few details that are quite fuzzy.

As for Doggett and Reyes, I think those two characters could have been treated with a little more dignity. I understand Scully not wanting to be with anybody else except Mulder, her frustration knowing he was out there somewhere and she had to go it alone. But I guess she just couldn't force herself to really trust anybody else. Neither of Doggett or Reyes could truly identify with everything Scully and Mulder had gone through. Doggett and Reyes hadn't seen the things she and Mulder had seen and therefore had every reason to doubt the whole conspiracy. I just think there were a lot of other cases, stories, etc. which could have been written which were XFiles that two new, unitiated agents could have worked on, saving the really difficult ones for Mulder and Scully.

I would have watched more seasons. Now there are two new shows coming out that might come close. I plan on watching the Eleventh Hour and The Fringe--just to see if they are good on their own merit or if they are another poor attempt copying or trying to recreate the XFiles. Big shoes to fill I would have to say!
