I'm almost through season 9, and I have to say that seeing them again gives me a new appreciation for them. If CC & Co. had started fresh with Doggett and Reyes, without Scully or Mulder hanging around, it would have been better.

I love Scully, but she really brings down many of the episodes, especially the ones about William and the conspiracy stuff. I watch those and wonder why on earth Doggett and Reyes care so much about Scully and William. Scully is not pleasant to be around (although she's a lot nicer to Doggett than she was in season 8), and no concern whatsoever is shown for D&R.

The stand-alone shows are pretty good except for the obligatory scenes with GA. The one exception is the episode that Burt Reynolds was in. That one had entertaining Scully-Reyes interactions.
